”But I’m not scared of dying,” said Dayib. ”We all have to go at some point. If I die because I am defending something that I strongly believe in, then that’s an honour.”
MashaAllah, may Allah keep her safe and protect all who seek to change Somalia for the better, ameen ameen ameen.

Introducing women in politics is incredibly important, for many reasons. I wish we all had the courage to die in the name of something other than war. I am sure her platform will include ways to include all clans and pave the way for social development. Focusing on public institutions like education and health, developing a strong national army and identity as well as development. But first eliminating the very high rate of corruption and theft from national coffers. Tall order indeed.

I don't think Somalia is ready for such an improvement though. These disgusting ministers are getting fat and their homes are becoming mansion sized from money that could be used to develop our lands... why risk losing that?

^^ sounds ideal but the truth is that this is unattainable wish. We can't chuck the principle of Islam on order to achieve success in deceptive dunya.

Lol she should stay in the kitchen and look after her kids. Somalia is a dangerous place to be a politician let alone a female politician > what happened to Saado Ali AUN.

Maybe my english is not good but when you say Ideal you mean having a female president would be the best thing but since it goes against the deen its not viable? Imo the deen is ideal and other thing comes from subject perspective.

It is indeed ideal, but just because it's a deceptive dunya does not mean we need to hold ourselves to a society that is destroying itself on a daily basis. What other country has been self-destructing over 20+ years, and still not trying to actively change it? Only Somalis are capable of this. We are relying on external forces with their own agendas to save us lol?

There are millions of Somalis - Muslims - who are fed up with the constant disaster that our nation is...And instead of throwing our support behind those who seek positive and radical change, people complain at the audacity lol. Somaliland has experienced peace, but we need some serious work - a whole other story. We cannot move forward without those willing to risk their lives for the sake of their nation.

And what exactly is contradictory to Islam? As far as I know, it is not xaraam for a woman to become a politician, and unless someone can prove otherwise I'll stick to my guns.

I was in reply to, LA's post, regarding how a female leadership would make changes. Since our men have been utter wasters since the beginning. :)

Female leadership isn't permissible in deenta so that there is no point in trying. I'm not faulting deenta at all.

@Deeqa. Lool Islam is perfect . People are not. Just because others are sinning doesn't make it right.

Good for her, though she has no chance in winning in this 4.5 tribal system, but I hoped that Somalis were enlightened enough to vote for her. What is so Islamic of the current 4.5 tribal system? Furthermore, a female can become a political leader in an Islamic country but not a spiritual leader. Those who rejected this idea and took out of context the Hadith of the Prophet in regards to the Persian female leader are those who today deny women to drive cars on their rulings based on their interpretation of Islam. If you are a woman and believe another woman can't become a political leader, please cease driving, only leave home with a mahram while going to shopping, school and never work in a mixed gender environment.
