Siad Barre's mistakes/What Somalia needs

Post by Caesar »

Just my thoughts on somalia and siad barre.

I think Siad Barre was pro Somalia, only up till the end, I mean why didn't he build up his home region, he made Xamar the ultimate capital and built a nation there.

If he was truly selfish he would just build his little part and neglect the rest.
He had his moments but he wasn't complexly selfish. Plus a lot of the atrocities were commuted by the same "clans" it was happening to. Siad barre tried to eliminate tribalism and make Somalia a strong nation.

The guy died what 20 years ago and yet people still blame him, why don't Somalis just move on. Are we going to be like Jews always crying about holocaust?

How come the armed rebellions didn't talk it out peacefully why always war? :?

My opinion on siad barre's mistakes and things I think Somalia needs etc

Point 1.0
free and fair ELECTIONS! If we had that perhaps the entire civil war could have been avoided...

but let me continue on.
1.1 Appeasing the North

a) Would have gotten more Northern representatives, and squash any armed rebellions quickly. Just appease them, build them roads and stuff they want etc. Also would have squashed tribalism in the north since the rebellions were more of a tribal nature. Just like with anything get them to trust the Government and for them stop feeling like a side pace haha. Plus they need to respect the Government that was elected no sore losers no whining. Anyone trying to fuck up the country needs to be reprimanded. They can submit ideas to their local elected representative

2. Not only investing in the South

a) Again a cool thing and a bad thing, I would have invested equally in all corners of Somalia. Somalia is a big country but only investing in the south come on. Every corner should have had the same level of development.

Though I lay some blame on the people tbh, why didn't they build one f-king house in their original town or infrastructure. That's just retardnimo.
Xamar is a nice spot but look what happened post 1991, a lot of people went back to their true regions after being exiled out of Xamar and found out they were homeless in their own province. If they built infrastructure in their own spot they wouldn't have started from the bottom..again.

3. Having more military expertise with Ethiopia

A) Siad should have just armed the WSLF and never invade formally, just keep supplying weapons.support etc and train the oromos a bit better so they could have bee our van guard. Galbeed was ours for the taken and if everything went right then Ethiopia could have been dismantled in 1979

4. Giving minorities full equal rights

a)I know siad tried to stop tribes and all that and hired minorities, but I would have empowered them and arrest people who use derogatory slurs and all that, If the african americans can gain civil rights in the 60s why not minorites in the 70s and 80s? We can still achieve this now btw.
I would also ensure full integration of minorities into somali society  you dont have to like them but let them live damn.

5. Stop Arab worshiping

a) as recent DNA tests have proven and backed up thousands of years of Somali oral traditions, a lot of us are just normal somalis, this arab shaikh begging was just a political move for people to break apart and do their own thing. If you think you're are a super dhega cas, then bax. Those with proven arab ancestry we know who they are those little minorites, they never acted up in the way these somalis beg arabs it's embarrassing.

Until Arabta treats somalis better, I would say lets give the same thing they give to somalis. They wanna treat us bad let's do the same to any arab migrants.
Squueze every penny out of arabta jack up the prices on our livestock, make them suckas pay.

6. Stop backward and weird traditions

Stupid shit like FGM and anything else weird, eradicate that quickly. A jail sentence of 5 years of those caught practicing it.

7. Gender Equality

a) post 1991 Somalia took a turn for the worse,I would
give women full equal rights in Education and Work force.

All in all when you go to your ballots tomorrow morning vote Caesar!! lol jk

Also for the future why do we always need armed struggle why can't we try peaceful resistance??? Are we too chaotic for that lol.

may president siad barre dwell in jannah

some make history and others debate and complain about it.

Im sure a giant man would leave a giant history behind....not the case for present somalia.

He messed up big time, if only he didnt become a tribalist post 77. I would have agreed with you.

I will pick the restaurant this time! lol :eat:

Caesar, I like your thread and your ideas.
"but I would have empowered them and arrest people who use derogatory slurs and all that"
Not possible. The mean police? After years of integration, and the slow departure from tribalism, it would hopefully be enough of a social faux pas to insult and belittle tribes, minor or the supposed royalty.

"Not only investing in the South"
Maybe in reference to individuals not purchasing land, but I actually see alot of the roads that Barre himself built - the problem is they are horribly maintained. New roads and maintenance of old ones will connect all Somalis with greater ease. I really like the ideas of checkpoints. They search suspicious cars, they record plate numbers and if you try to blow past they fill your car with bullets. Harsh, but I like it. More security along our highways (and as a nation) would make most people feel secure enough to begin investing in smaller cities knowing the risk of getting owned is low.

I would go on but otherwise I like your points.

Lol Evol the roads in Somaliland are hard, especially in the west side,If you ever drive to Djibouti you'll know what I mean lol. But they are making do with what they have so its all good.

I agree with check points, everyone would feel safer during road trips, downside would be bribes right.

I do believe those who are discriminatory against people based solely on tribe need to be jailed.Minorities such as Midgaan,Yibir and the rest of them deserve the same opportunity to go to school and better their life and be a part of somali society. Tribalism should be illegal.

We're not ''one people''.

Don't talk about SL and don't associate it with Somalia.
