The classification of Bari, Waqooyi, Galbeed and Koonfur

Post by JamalAddow »

I base this on the different accents and the different 'clan' inhabitants which carry the names reer Waqooyi etc.

Bari: Eastern Sanaag, Bari, Nugaal
Waqooyi: Sool, Togdheer, Hawd and Waqooyi Galbeed
Gobolada dhexe: Mudug, Galgaduud and parts of Kilinka Shanaad and Hiiraan
Koonfur: The rest of the South and NFD, parts of Kilinka Shanaad
Galbeed: Rest of Ogaden, Awdal, Shinile, Djibouti

So, which accent is the closest to standard Somali (written and spoken on radio/TV)?

Its the Gobolada Dhexe accent that is used for standard Somali, but the thing is the Somali language is being replaced with foreign words and terms, as people move to the cities and leave the nomadic life.

We need a revival of the Somali, where all the old people are brought together and do their gabays etc.

Waqooyi is most effected due to their relative peace and prosperity, more foreigners come to their areas and more education with foreign systems, and they have less nomads due to that.

Lol @ sool being waqooyi.Isaaqyahow kibr badan ba ku haaya :Heh: Also there's absolutely no difference between the dialect and the people between mudug iyo nugaal. The real reer Bari are those who live in Bari and Kalkaal don't fuxking group us with them. Nugaal iyo Mudug and a lot of Eastern sool wa isku lahjad and Daqan.

Check this Ciise maxamud acting tough, mate you were always under the Boqortooyo rule, Nugaal is a little tuulo below Bari. While Cumar maxamud were always semi independent until the Kenadid conquered them.

Sool accent and dhaqan wise are Waqooyi, they always intermarry with Isaaq never with MJs, while Warsangeli lean more to the Bari side.

Cumar Maxamud culture and accent wise lean more to Sacad than other MJs, listen to the Abdullahi Yusuf interviews and that should tell you.
