The Isaaq man who liberated Djibouti...

Post by Xildiiid »

Cumar Carteh Qaalib.

He was the president of the United Nations security council as well as the president of the Organization for African liberation.

If I'm not mistaken he's closely related to snetters Lillaahiya and Gacanyare (Khalid Ali).

He's known for his efforts to liberate Djibooty among other African nations.
Mr. Arteh is acknowledged as one of the most outstanding advocates for the liberation of Africa. Africans from Djibouti, Mozambique, Angola, Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Eritrea, just to mention a few, remember him as a liberator.

This Isaaq man is also known for securing a seat for the Somali republic in the Arab league.

One of the Sudanese representatives told the Egyptian host that Somalis are not Arabs and therefore shouldn't join the Arab League in which mr. Qaalib answered by asking the Egyptian host, ''Who looks more of an Arab, me or him''.

A true descendant of Sheikh Isxaaq and a true Afro Hashemite.

Ghalib was born in British Somaliland in 1930. He started elementary and intermediate education in Hargeisa and completed secondary education in Sheikh and higher education in England. He started his career as a school master and then headmaster of elementary schools of Las-Anod, Berbera and Hargeisa.

Mr. Ghalib is most famous as head of the Somali republic's foreign ministry. During his term in office, the Somali republic saw itself transform from a small country to a leader in Third World politics. All credit is due to this one man, who as Foreign Minister brought the world to the Somali republic. Apart from holding different International posts representing his country, he organized numerous conferences that were held in Mogadishu. These included:

East and Central Africa Summit, Mogadishu 1972, this regional conference had paved the way for the OAU summit that was held in Mogadishu. Statesmen including Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia.

Security Council Meeting, in Addis Ababa 1972, for the first and the last time so far, the Security Council members met outside New York in Addis Ababa, to discuss the question of Liberation of Africa. As President of the Security Council, it gave him a great sense of satisfaction to Chair the Security Council meeting in Africa, and discuss the liberation of Africa.

Making use of this opportunity, he arranged for the members to visit Mogadishu. The Somali republics international prominence was apparent from the Security Council members’ visit. Included in the members was former US President George Bush who then was US Ambassador to the United Nations in New York.

The OAU Summit, in Mogadishu 1974, the crowning achievement of Mr. Arteh’s relentless efforts to turn Somali republic to a Third World power came in 1974, when he arranged to hold the OAU Summit in Mogadishu. In that year, he was the Chairman of the African Liberation Committee, Chairman of the OAU Conference.

A lot of his time in power is covered in his book the cost of dictatorship.
The french though along with the belgians to be the worst of the colonialists, the frogs rigged the elections at a time when most of the world were de-colonising but france still wanted to parasitically keep hold.

Yep, maybe djiboutians needed to be continuously colonized. Even Somalia too. We are too busy loving the idea of freedom that we don't stop and ask---is it good for us? Can we live without the White man? These are important issues to tackle in 2014.

PS Kudos to this Isaaq man. My hugs. :dj:

He tried to run for somaliland president in 2003 but his hormuuud party did not meet the requirements. its hard to join somaliland politics if you look or have pro union history during and after the late 80's, even his son tried in 2012 they did not allow his party.
