Exciting Development, EA to upgrade services

Post by Hawdian »

As a Bahir Yeshaq advocate, I am excited about the announcement by the Ethiopian Airlines (EA) in regards to upgrading services to Somaliland. It will bring the dream of Bahir Yeshaq one step closer. I believe in order to achieve it and rally the investors, cargo is must and air-cargo is even more vital. From Hawassa, Bahir Dar now goods can be flown directly to Somaliland markets without going through other lands or so many check points.

In the long term it will achieved a lot and goods from Somalia will slowly decline. This is what I support.

The Ethiopian government and SL agreed to upgrade people-to-people contacts, aviation and speed up the planned Berbera corridor. Things are gaining momentum but for me the much awaited cargo will begin.

The cargo business is great opportunity and it should be based on two phases; Berbera-to-Ethiopia and Ethiopian goods to SL markets. The key demand is agricultural goods including fruits and vegetables. Ethiopia has much bigger volume and more premium products than Somalia. Somaliland should import her veggie and fruits needs from Hawassa.

Currently the Ethiopian government is constructing an airport for Hawassa thus in matter of 2-3 years, it will be possible to fly goods from Hawassa directly to Hargeisa before the city wakes up to get their fresh produce.

SomalilandPress-Somaliland Civil Aviation and Air Transport Mr. Mohammed Hashi Abdi met with the Ethiopian State Minister Ambassador Berhane Gebre-Christos on Tuesday , this week in Addis Abba , Ethiopian Capital.

The two officials discussed relations between Ethiopia and Somaliland, as well as aviation links, peace and security, and trade and business.

Also on the agenda were Ethiopian Airlines cooperation with Somaliland, working together to alleviate terrorism and development cooperation in the Berbera corridor as well as encouraging people-to-people and government-to-government relations.

Ethiopian Airlines, among the three biggest airlines on the subcontinent, is “very confident” that volumes of passengers and goods via Somaliland will rise, and intends to start a joint venture to develop cargo flights to serve goods transiting the port.

The Ethiopian state Minister Ambassador Berhane noted that Ethiopia was committed to broaden its relationships over peace, security, development and tourism. He congratulated Somaliland on the progress it was achieving and said Ethiopia was committed to broaden cooperation over air transport, tourism and related sectors. He also suggested cooperation in the Berbera corridor could be strengthened.

Mr. Hashi said Somaliland appreciated Ethiopia’s role in peace and stability and development in the region. He stressed the importance of Ethiopia’s support to Somaliland and hoped that diplomatic and other relations between Somaliland and Ethiopia could be strengthened. He added that Ethiopia’s cooperation in poverty alleviation and in fighting Al- Shabaab was of significant importance.

Somaliland hopes to become the new gateway for landlocked Ethiopia’s 92m people, developing connections by road, rail, air and sea in a nation at the meeting point of the African and Arab worlds.

International financial institutions have in the past counseled Ethiopia to develop transport routes through Somaliland to “diversify Ethiopia’s options and thus improve its negotiating power with transit corridors.

If I had a photoshop/project-rendering company in the Horn of Africa, I would have been a billionaire by now.

LeJusticier,

He understands that and is completely aware of our thinking but he doesn't like it that its led by Isaac brains :)

It's an idea in a simplistic graphic logo. He should read about Florence Nightingale and how she changed the UK and the world healthcare with a simple pie diagram. The UK policy makers did not understand all the issues surrounding British health problems until this woman put it in a simple pie diagram and from there they changed UK health forever and the rest of the world adopted their policies. She produced this 1855.

We are moving Forward was a good trip for the SL aviation minister going to Ethiopia and enhancing the close cooperation especially using the Ethiopian services airliner i am good for all of that , we should try grow our own food especially the fruits like apples and xabxab for our own use the rest can be imported if needed. I would even go as far as trying to produce our own Qat its possible. But we should trade with Ethiopia. Ethiopia and Somaliland should be the closest to each other in the region in terms of cooperation and trade. We should absolutely have no trade links with Somalia.

By starting the cargo flights between these two nations, we will drive those taking trucks to Somalia out off business. By the time their truck returns from Wanlawein, we already supplied the markets with daily flights. It will take at least five days to return from Hiiraan forget the regions even further away.

The Somali truckers are laid back and often sit down for khat in almost every village. They hardly travel at night as well since roads are not safe.

This is the gap and it will be competition that will kill business with Somalia. We don't have to do much.

No one can compete with the well advanced transport equipment of the Ethiopian airliner they are best airliner Africa has, when establishing the SL airways we should closer cooperate with Ethiopian airliner how it became such a success. Miiro qat is useless from Kenya we should keep the Harari Qat from Ethiopia.

Daryeel and other SL construction company's can be used for Ethiopia and the Bahir Yeshaqi foundation work for Local Somalilander and more projects for SL construction companies. We should invest our money into Ethiopia there is allot of money to be made in Ethiopia specifically leasing Farm land from the government. Ethiopia can use SL ports for import export , SL will import cheap electricity from Ethiopia while we move closer to our capital Bali Isaaq, deep into south eastern Ethiopia.
