Improving basic infrastructure

Post by LiquidHYDROGEN »

This should be the number one concern for the Somaliland government. I don't get it, it's not like basic plumbing, sewage treatment and water supply would cost billions of dollars. Why are we building hotels when there are no proper toilets? Have you ever been in the toilets of Maansoor? I was physically sick. Water, the most important ingredient for life is brought to the city in tanks. Why not drill for underground aquifiers? Why not lay pipes and taps for houses in the cities? A 20% land tax on all homes and a 10%-15% tax on businesses as well as increased port tarriffs snd a hike in qat tax and you'd have more than enough funds to ensure a reliable quality water supply and treatment.

The government cant do much without aqoonsi and hayaado.the average person cant do anything without a remittance donation or a white hayaado which comes their villages and builds them wells.you see, the entire population is being indoctrinated to believe that little is possible without europeans or people in deeassbara.of course there are structural problems, but there are also cultural problems which are being more engrained in somali culture.

There is a lot the goverment can do without aqoonsi. This beggar mentality whereby we believe that Aid money and loans will sort out our problems is a cancer that needs to be routed out. Nothing is done simply because we don't want to do anything, not because we can't.

Somalis are really good at lacag aruuriis. That could be a viable option. Diaspora along with locals can chip in any amount that they could afford, businesses can donate, and the government could hold a specific amount as well. It make take some time but better that the people take part in the development of their nation than asking cadans for money. Iska wax u qabso over beggar mentality.

Mr. Vienna,

I'm not derailing your usual rants. It's nothing new. If you have ideas for development, there is a featured topic. Too much calacaal is not healthy.
