ORLANDO – Orlando police officers used pepper spray on a crowd of women outside a beauty supply store after the women started pushing and shoving in an attempt to get inside.
Police officers were called to the Beauty Exchange store Friday after a crowd outside the store grew to several dozen women.
Orlando television station WKMG reports that the store was giving away free hair extensions that normally sell from $55 to $100.
Surveillance video shows two police officers shooting the pepper spray at the crowd after the women ignored orders by the officers to back up.
Some customers say the officers overreacted.
A police spokeswoman says the pepper spray was used to gain control of the crowd.
