What Bothers Me Most About Somalis/Somali Situation

Post by Murax »

For a people who are in a situation like us We are extremely arrogant, discriminatory (amongst ourselves) and removed from reality. If You take the other severely poor and impoverished nations of the world like Haiti, Nepalese, etc. You don't see the same type of arrogance. The lack of our ability to be humbled by our situation is what continues to allow us to continue on our stupidity and foolishness.

You are right. Just looking at this forum and you realize somalis are doomed. 20 years of humiliation has not made them humble and wiser but instead more bitter, deluded, self-hating and most of all, still divided.

What bothers me more is Somalis that whine and complain alot. I rather be arrogant than complain 24/7.

More action, less talk.

What bothers me is that some of you who claim to have been born in the diaspora/ came as teenagers still worship the somali god "qabiil". Why are we intellectually retarded? why do we worship this god of evil, division and nonsense?

You will see someone claiming to have been born in USA, Canada or UK and blv in this nonsense of nonsenses. Caku.

We claim to reprent country and people, but, in the next day, you will find the same people condoning the division, murder of our people.

I am also bothered when dusty towns are called cities, when moryanstans are called land.

We are the laughing stock of the world; lowest of the low in any measurement.. yet, we are everywhere discoursing about a superiority complex that at a second look is an inferiority one embedded in a primitive culture.

I have more rants.. I will spare you

It's not like most of us in the West are gonna go back and live there permanently unless we strike oil. So fuck Somalia, it is the natural order of things for us to be divided and at each others throats.

As far as My position, Yes I was born in the West, Yes I do know that I belong to a Somali clan. Do I worship it? No. Do I believe that they should have any extra privilege or right any other Somali citizen has? No. Do I believe that they are better than any other Somali? No. Just clarifying My position, and making the point that just because You know who Your clan is, or believe in local grassroots development for Your family, extended, family clan doesn't make You evil.

Muraxow, I did not mean to out you saaxib. I never knew you were born in the diaspora.

You write that you know you are born into a clan: how did you know that? do you believe that nonsense? that social contruction? Clanism/clan is why our people are in shambles. I do understand if a geeljire or people back in Somalia use it as a mechanism of safety, survival but it pains to note that ppl in the diaspora are fuelling it.

You are such a hypocrite.

Aren't you the same guy that refuses to work with your neighbouring clans (Hawiye and other southern clans) but yet will work with someone from your same clan (Darood) that you do not share any deegaan. For example you support Puntland claims of Gaalkacyo but you are not willing to support the Galgaduud & Mudug formation.

You are the same guy that always insults the Somali government because the president does not hail from your clan. You are nothing but a hypocrite, and then you have the audacity to call me a 'Hawiye' and deny my own clan 'Marehan', simply because I'm looking for a solution that is better for the country but also a solution that goes well with the constitution.

Actually I do believe that IF used right, clan can be a great thing. If You use it to help the orphans of a particular clan, put them in schools, dig wells, build hospitals that would all take the pressure off of a Government to have to do everything everywhere. The thing is with Somalis, clan is used as a sense of flashing arrogance and superiority, Dulmi, oppression, taking people's rights, etc. I've lived in Saudi for a time and even Saudis they'd have clans, everybody knew what clan they were and inside the car I'd hear them sometimes having casual conversations about 'What clan are You, Ohh Yea I heard of You guys'. That's Why I don't wanna blame clan altogether, but inparticular Somalis unfounded arrogance. I honestly believe if Somalis accepted how low they were they would leave off all the things that contribute to that lowliness. But if You never even realize You're lowly to begin with that's a problem

Muraxoow, you could engage in charitable endeavours without belonging to a clan.

Qabiil is not the problem but qabyaalad. Just like all knives aren't bad but the murderer who uses it to stab someone to death is. The problem here is most somalis never learn anything positive or good but only the bad habits. If somalis were tribalists but at the same time were productive, hard-working, and progressive it would be something. But when you couple qabyaalad with dishonesty, corruption, laziness and spitefulness it becomes unbearable and shows the real issue is not qabyaalad but an inherent problem within somalis and somali culture. Just look at this ape;

LH; it is the same; one is a diagnosis, the other is the disease. It is like cancer and the tumour that is visible for the naked eye.
