When Your Parents fled to Canada and were accepted as Refugees they were not dumb but were hoping You'd take advantage of the resources available to You, to advance Yourself. What they didn't have in mind was that You'd be a low paid FBI Informant or some kid who never grows up and does something with His life. Their mind was in the right place its just sad how things turned out.

Please don't change it into personal topic, we are discussing why Somali parents lament their children's failures when they themselves brought it upon them. Thank you.

PS: I do not see success or "advancing yourself" as earning a large income and buying a home with riba, but what can I expect from an American whose been prodded along to join the rat race brainwashed into capitalism

I am not going to speculate on what may have occasioned today's episode of your daily rants, but I do admit that you have raise very valid points concerning Somali parents living in the West and how many among them, have failed their children.

Coward is not a word I would use to describe people who fled a civil war.

If parents made a mistake it is upon us to correct it. I'm sorry but there's no excuse to be a bum in the West. Study hard, stay safe, network with people etc not even for your parents sake but for yourself infact.

Clearly some Somali's are better at adapting to their new environments than others.
At the end of the day...I'd rather be here than on a leaky boat drifting off the coast of Libya with 500 other souls.
