Somalia: Worst nation on earth?

Can anyone even dispute this these days?

I can't think of another nation that can be simply summed up as a total and abject failure in every respect, not just the country itself but the people included. From the primitive and undeveloped language we use, to our religion, customs and culture, right up to our political system and leaders, and anything else left in between, it all just stinks. We are at heart a nomadic people that have failed to assimilate to and develop a culture to be productive citizens of the modern world. Make no mistake, if it weren't globalization and the United Nations World Food Program our population would not have exceeded 3 million people, because the simple natural force of Survival of the Fittest would not produced so many unproductive Somalis. People, it is not the Al-Shabab that is holding us back, it is not our political leaders, it is not the CIA, it is our tried and failed culture that is holding us back.

Now can we please start all over again? Lets throw everything we know and believe in the bin because clearly it isn't working.

Is it even up for discussion? The sad thing is that if the land was populated by an even half-civilized people, Somalia would be one the richest and most powerful nations on earth.

Religion is not the only factor, but it definitely compounds the problem significantly especially when you have a nation full of ignorant people.

And that is not to say Islam is only a mild factor in the malaise of Somali society. Looking at the globe, it's evidently clear that the prevalence of Islam in a country is inversely proportional to a country's social well being and prosperity. The Muslim nations you mention that are doing "fine" are about a handful of the 57 member states of OIC. They are either 1. secular or semi-secular by constitution. 2 have significant non-Muslim populations (who are almost always much better of than there Muslim compatriots) or 3. Attain their relative stability and "fine" status via oil revenue. Any country with an overwhelming Muslim population and with Islam as the dominant political force, is without exception a failed state, and that in my opinion is no coincidence.

Many Central African countries like the Congo, South Sudan etc are worse places to live.

Also, Somalia might be poor, but at least its people aren't taken advantage of by Western corporations like many Asian countries. The average nomad in Somalia is probably happier than most workers in Bangladesh.

As for your question, no I don't believe in sorcery. But then I've never experienced it so I can't exactly make a definitive judgement, can I? There are people who will swear they've been vicims of jinn, sorcery, evil-eye etc.

Wrong, Japan is a resource barren country. DJ is richer than Japan when it comes natural resources But you gotta give'm some credit, they have maskax iyo caqli leading to their outstanding development we witness today. Somalia itali got their full independence in 1960 but today its a shit hole. Japan walked away from the World War 2 with immense casualties. Yet today, its light years ahead of Somalia.

Bottom line is, it depends on the minds and in my opinion the personality of people. Japan people are mostly submissive with weak personalities (easy to rule). Somali (and African people in general) are arrogant and fooled of themselves (only exp Somaliland ) Oman, Qatar, Kuwait etc.. These countries are ruled by Royal families. Their populations do not interfere with politics hence they are fairly developed but still their ways of thinking is very far of "bright"

You cannot compare Somalia to countries with abundant resources to establish a civilization. Somalis may have more resources than Japan, now. But that's due to the industrial revolution and the growth of science and technology which require raw materials like gas/oil, uranium etc. Somalia, a thousand years ago had very little resources outside of lifestock. Japan had plenty of arable farmland, better climate, woods and forests for lumber and bountiful rain and rivers. Somalia has none of that except for the deep south which wasn't reached by somali clans until later. Without a centralized, agricultural society, civilization cannot take place. Japan is not rich today because it's people are inexplicably smarter than us. Japan is rich today because it had the necessary foundations and groundworks for a civilization due natural advantages in landscape and weather. Culture doesn't come from the skies, culture is a direct consequence of the natural surroundings and adapting to it.

Now, as to why the somali state fragmented so quickly and completely after independence is due to somali culture and that is a topic for another discussion. If you truly believe other humans are smarter than you then that's your own business. But please do not extend you inferiority complex to the rest of us. It's cringeworthy and pathetic.
