Somali Food With A Modern Twist

Post by Twist »

Did you folks see this Somali sister who has a new cooking channel on YouTube (Cooking with Hafza)? Her cooking seems to be healthier than the other Somali channels (in terms of the main recipe choices, as well as the less deep-fried stuff).

Judging the flag on her fridge I think she's in Canada so any Canadian Snetter who might know her? Tell her that her cooking is great but she needs to change the battery of her smoke alarm detector. Image

PS: Yummy, you can take some tips from this sister and create your own channel as well. Image

Basra, I pray for you so that you can get a man with a humongous ceeb since your symptoms are caused by your husband's inability to turn your head into your heels. Say aamiin.

Thanks Twist walal for contributing this, it's always nice to see Somali cooks showing our kitchen skills to people worldwide.
And don't mind our inappropriate grand-auntie Basra, she just learnt a new word & is exercising it Image

Here's another lovely Somali mum who cooks interesting food. I don't know why but I like to imagine she has lots of active males in her house to feed maa shaa Allah, and she's such a romantic too Image

Yeah, I came across Alla Kheerto's channel but something about her mannerism and the way she talks put me off, don't know why. There something fake about her tone. Image

PS: One thing I like about this new Hafza chick is the fact she tries to concentrate on healthy alternatives (if you check most of the other Maryooley channels it's mainly deep fried food and lots and lots of sugar and white flour based dishes).

I see, I didn't notice that about her, but I noticed she mentions Allah a lot in her videos which is nice and quite mumsy.

Regarding Hafza, maybe because she's younger and is interested in healthier alternatives?

I've been to AllaKheerto's channel before. When i noticed that she doesn't use precise measurements, i never bothered visiting her channel again.

^ Why is it terribly important to use precise measurements? Only in cake baking did I find that to be important, other foods (with experience) you don't necessarily have to use measurements.
