You can tell how murky the future looks for Somalia by just looking at the phenomona you mentioned. A country whose presidents and prime minsters are quickly given and addressed by a nickname xaguu gaari? Ilaahay amarkii bay qoraxda ku dhacdaa.

LOL. Yah I did, awhile ago. I still crack up whenever I am reminded of it. Nicknames are okay in my book but calling the president "mudana culusoow" in front of the cameras is a bit too much. The funny thing is, we are not even aware that this is a problem.

I think Amin Caamir has a hand in the nicknames of somali politicians. There is this guy who he portrays as a Jew (classical antisemitic cartoon). People claim that he is the godfather of an elusive fraternity called Damjadiid. People look at Amin's sketches and before you know it, the PM/President has a nickname.

A few years ago, Shariif Hassan was on an overseas trip. He met some somalis at an event. Almost all those who asked questions started by saying " Mudane shariif sakiin".

I am not a fan of amin. He's a typical Somali. I don't think he thinks too much into his little cartoons before he publishes them.

I like his work. I actually only look at his cartoons to get me info on Somalia. I like satire. There is always the claim that he makes money by extortion.

His cartoons play a key role in picking nicknames.

I need to consult with my guru fadhi ku dirir sahal before I make a prediction.

Id' say it's a bit too early to predict. Some of the labels you've listed could pass for jovial nicknames but Beerdoofaar is just wrong Image
