This is the biggest curse that can befall us...We are uncivilized and xaasids to one another based on qabiil. We are suspicious of one another. We are jealous and in competition with other. All is based on qabiil. Qabiil and qabiil. Therefore, oil will be the ultimate curse.

OD: How about we women take over Somalia, and start over, I promise you Somalia would be better if a woman led it. Look at what the men have done? They're still begging the U.N, killing each other and shredding the little self respect Somalia had.
TKS: Yeeeeeeeees girl, we will get that oil money.

There is a lot to say for women in politics...that's for sure.
However...if the western experience is anything to go by...they'll just be paler versions of the men.
Sarah Palin, Maggie Thatcher, Angela Merkel.....doesn't really fill you with confidence does it.
PS We had Fowzia as FM and by all accounts...she was as corrupt, if not more so, than the men.
But good luck....women have every right to enter politics....as long as they don't neglect the home fires of course.

They are the bread winners they are the ones who are hustling and busting their ass to provide for their families. They are the backbone of the Somali economy from street vendors to offices. And you will see it when you visit there.

The reason there is no female Somali president is one qabil and two Somali womens worst enemy .....another somali women. Have you ever heard they way they talk about each other the way they cut each other down. Smh

A WOMAN who graduated from University of Somalia is not on the same level as a woman who studied in the west because of Education, Socially aware of other cultures. Somalis back home are sheltered and most of them are ignorant about what's going on in the world.

honestly i grew up around a lot of brothers and i can tell you there just as catty lol...but when your president, your a professional...you don't have time for all of this gossiping house wife drama. and the qabil thing is more prevalent amongst those who grow up around it, which is why people in the west who are less exposed to this mess will always be less bias and less petty about such nonsense. its good to know where you come from, but people take it 20 steps too far by involving their qabil in literally everything they do in life.
