OK can someone or everybody, TELL ME, why I read letters written in 1780-1820 England, of the aristocratic people? I don't know these people. They are long dead, yet I read their letters, understand everything and enjoy everything. So much that--if a name appears in the letter--- the name is familiar to me as if it is my own relative. WHAT gratifications do I get from this??? Enlighten me.
