What makes you be ashamed as Somali

There are a number of things in our culture which are weird and make you ashamed one of the main one being how We descriminate our own brothers and sisters by clasifying them as MIDGAAN , We done that to them for 100's of years and still do it today , where they are not allowed to inter marry among us , are insulted daily and ostercised , after all they are Somali who look like us , speak like us , and muslims as us , I recently watched intresting documentry on that subject on Hiiran Online made by some one called Mr. Midgan , I think these people owe us big appology and that they should be assimilated in to society by giving them the lion share of their rights on every level , there should be like so called possative discrimination where they are given or allocated posts for them in every level of society , It's intresting AbdiWeli president of Puntland had recently had a meeting with that community and highlighted how they are neglected and promised to put forward effective policies of addresing the problem , the ather one on my list is FGM and what is the point of practising this with all the sufering on our women.

You have raised two important issues, but let me add one such despicable act which had a huge negative impact on us is tribalism. It has destroyed our fabric of society, caused untold suffering to our people and though we are aware of its destructive nature, yet, we are still its defenders. Lately, what embarrasses me most at times is when I read or hear from friends and colleagues who ask me, why are Somali girls in their formative early teens are escaping to ISIS? I don't know. But since a clear profile of them has emerged of all wanting and becoming wives and not combatants, it is fair to speculate and say, their major attraction to ISIS is to get married. Therefore as a community, we should engage with the politicians, security officials and the judiciary to revise and extrapolate the age of marriage consent to these group of people.

this brings great shame, but inshallah things will get better, I have great hopes for jubaland and its inhabitants. unfortunately the region is under intense international pressure, they have many interest in our natural resources.
