Random Somali Tales

A soon-to-be groom called his future in-law in galkayo to ask for his daughter's hand. The first question the man asked was about his qabil. The young man was confused so he said he was from Sweden. Frustrated he inquired what his tribe was again. The fellow said he was a doctor. The father didn't care what his occupation was. Instead he asked where his parents were from. The man replied - hargeisa, bossaso and mogadishu. The old man was at his wits end, until the fellow told him he was sending 50 K for the mehr. :blessed: The father rejoiced and forgot about tribe. In fact, he blessed him for his generosity and had an announcement of his own to make - "there would be a double wedding." He spoke at length about how his wife died 14 years ago and with this money he could finally get remarried, that and he could pass on some funds to his clansmen.
There was one last favour he asked his future son-in-law. It was for some heart medication. He asked if he had a heart condition. The old man said no, but with 14 years of unused plumbing he needed some assistance [viagra]. The young man laughed. The old man continued and said they could split the medication. He exclaimed "some for you and some for me". :dead:

I shared this story so its only fair you folks divulge a 'little something too."

An old man stood up after prayer in his local mosque.
He explained that he had a daughter that he wanted to give away
to a good hard working and God fearing somali.
Then he asked if there are any takers.
A young man put his hand up and as he was about to get up and speak..
the old man recognized the young man and quietly said...ADEER MASAAJIDKA CIYAARTA KA DA.

The kid was Madhibaan.

This joke perfectly sums up my love/hate for Somalis. I laughed hard, but so much shame.
