I don't think she meant any offence. Political Correctness made her say awdal instead of samaroon.

She is not wrong because although he or his family are reer gabiley his subclan are mostly based in awdal, so yes he hails from awdal. Samatar is some how obssesed with his little town of gebiley. :lol:

Stereotypes are everywhere. Since they assume I’m HJ I get asked which Xaafad I am from Burco. I politely remind the person I am from Erigavo since at least from the 12th century.

Cousin,

Im not surprise that this generalizations exist about clans regional base and cannot cause any offence. Is like asking an asian where your from when your in Canada when his family has been here since close to the beginning of the country. I don't take offence when I tell people my qabiil and assume I'm from arabsiyo or jabuuti but I just tell them that they should also mention luqhaaya, the city where our sultan was crowned.
