In rural Ethiopia 96.3% are poor while in the urban area the percentage of poverty is 46.4%. Comparing the poverty rate by regions, Somali region has the highest poverty rate at 93% followed by Oromiya (91.2%) and Afar (90.9%). Amhara region has 90.1% poverty rate while Tigray has 85.4%.

Visiting certain parts of Ethiopia and you'll feel as if you're living in the Stone Age. I've experienced better living conditions in places like Beledweyne, Burtinle, and Qardho!

Ethiopia is an absolute shithole and it's due to the lack of economic freedom which exists in the country. Taxes and regulations are too high, and bureaucratic red tape makes it almost impossible for anyone to set up a business in Ethiopia. There's too much government control in the economy and it's suffocating the people.

It's not because of real poverty, just that they cant '''measure'' their wealth because of the high number of nomads. The rest of Ethiopia are mainly farmers, so the statistics can be better measured.

I would not trust those figures. The average Ogadeni is taller and fatter than the average person in other parts of Ethiopia.

Average xabashis are 5 times poorer than average somalis including somali ethios. Xabashis can not even afford to eat meat pasta and rice while somalis consume more pasta than the italians lool.

There are like 90 million ethiopians and only 10 million somalis in somalia. Of course they will have more power overall. But the average Ethiopian does not have a better life than the average somali.
