African Nations Cup

Post by Machiavelli2 »

Oops, it is Ghana 1-2 Senegal. Besides the non-African Somalis, who is watching the game between South Africa and Algeria? So far these are the results of the games played so far.

Ghana 1-2 Senegal

Tunisia Cape Verde 1 : 1

Zambia D.R. Congo 1 : 1

Burkina Faso Gabon 0 : 2

Equatorial Guinea Congo 1 : 1

Any predictions who will win this tournament?

Bro, I graduated from Daanyeers school of misleading titles to attract attention which professor Daanyeer calls it selfie marketing. Jokes aside, I was surprised no one discussed yet the African Cup of Nations in this forum. Maybe, there are few football lovers on this forum.

Maybe there are not many who watch ACN compared to few years when Nigeria, Cameron, Egypt and Morocco were strong. The competition is just getting weaker in my opinion.

Arsenal

We may not have many of the household celebrity players we had at that era, but the one positive aspect about the tournament is many former lowly African teams have improved their performances and can beat any star studded team. How else can you explain when Zambia beat super-stars Ivory Coast at the final of the ACN in 2011? Nigeria is the reigning champion from 2013. All the African stars are participating but the competition lacks support and exposure in the big European countries. I will rather watch the ACN games than the Spanish el-classico, or Man City Vs Arsenal. To each their own.

Disclaimer

Edited the Title from Ghana 1-2 Somalia African Nations Cup to its current format.

Who would watch bunch of jareers with big nose chasing a ball? No brain with these africans . Just a lot of physicality and little big of skill. It's not like the European cups where it's everything

There is skill no doubt, but the end product for a lot of African footballers is poor. Jareer Okocha made around 200 appearance both for PSG and Bolton and scored like 28 goals according to stats. Now Zidane was more skillful and won everything at club and international level .

@blackrain.

Eusebio was a jareer born in africa.brazil never became great until the jareers were allowed to play.pele, ronaldo, yahya toure, gullit, just to name a few.zidane was a berber sandkneegrow and his platform was built on vieira, makelele, thuram, dessaily-all africans

.the africans nations is not great on the eye because most teams are unable to produce decent enough squads or teams to play quality football.with the exception of a few nations, most teams have a few good players and many average players, making it harder for teams to gel..algeria totally outplayed germany and ghana matched them in the world cup.england play worse football than ghana even though they have better resources.lastly, corruption is also a problem and some players arent commited to their countries, however africans do have skill. Dont tell me england have more skill because they are european.

Ps.okocha could have been been as good as zidane if he had worked with a coach like ferguson.cristiano ronaldo was similar to okocha when he came to utd but ferguson told him to stop all the tricks and practice shooting at the first glimpse of goal

all valid points Baasto, but not african team ever made it quarter finals. Even Asia made it to there. Even the Americans who were couple years ago beat by shitty Iran are miles ahead of them. I give Algera , Egypt are great african teams because they are not jareer :dead:

ps. How do you watch 22 dark jareers playing football? i don't even recognize the players since they are all butt dark

Brother, you and Baasto should ignore the trolls. Speaking of the UAE, I watched the game between UAE and Iran at the Asian Cup and in the UAE team, there was this number 10 dude, Omer Abdirahman who looks like the Brazilian David Luis, he is highly talented, can dribble the ball past opposition players with ease and his passes are precise and lethal. He reminded me of Messi. He previously had trials with your team Arsenal and can't fathom why he isn't playing for them. Check him on YouTube.
