At least two people have been killed in a suicide bomb attack on a hotel in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, a day before Turkish President Recep Dayyib Erdogan official visit.
The attack hit a hotel close to the Presidential palace where diplomats and security personnel from the Turkish government were meeting Somali officials to discuss on the visit of President Erdogan.
The two people killed were policemen guarding the hotel. Local sources said that they stopped the car en route to the gate of the hotel.
Somali militant group al-Shabaab has claimed the responsibility of the attack.
Security is tight in Mogadishu ahead of Friday’s official visit to the city President Erdogan, who will held talks with the top government officials and tour the Turkish funded projects.
Elsewhere, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davotoglu condemned the attack, adding that will not distract the President’s visit to the war-torn capital.
It will be the second time Mr Erdogan has visited Somalia in four years. In 2011, he became the first major Western leader in decades to visit the country wracked by war and starvation.
