In our culture working hard is never rewarded but rather we always commend those who take the easier path to success. The reason I said that is that 80% of our population are still pastoralists living in rural areas with camels. Last week I watched a documentary about the famous well of Sulul of Sagag district where over a million camels are watered every month. The sad thing is that the water is being fetched the same way our elders did over centuries ago. No creativity, no thinking. The reason is simple; our people are naturally lazy. Look at this white dude who learned the difficult Somali language in few months to advance his career.

Re: The Culture of Working Hard
Af Somali is not hard to learn. And how would learning it advance one's career? People learn learn Chinese, German, Spanish and Arabic to advance their careers. The only reason a foreigner would learn somali is the same reason they would learn Klingon or Elvish - because of it's quaintness.
Also what about the Somalis who force themselves to learn Swahili, English, Arabic, Swedish etc to get ahead in life? Are they lazy too? Too many uncle toms on this website.
