Re: soma OIL&GAS indicates that somalia has oil
Well, I doubt the Gulf countries would allow that....they would probably just bribe politicians and fund AlShabab to scare away investors.....they are willing to drop the price of oil so low so as to even collapse Iran, Russia, Venezuela.
If they can do that to established oil powers what makes you think that Somali oil will get off the ground?

Caamo somali talk!
The arab countries r the only entity that fully support somalia reappearing in the map again bc of piracy, terourism and shia activities
Haven't you seen all these international piracy conferences in dubai?
Somali piracy costs their economy $18bn per year-protection-wich could have been avoided under strong somali state
http://edition.cnn.com/2013/04/12/busin ... orld-bank/
Lastly, arabs have invested in the oil companies so both qatar who has a share in shell and the UAE who owns a petroleum company who's called al mobadala have approached the govt to give them oil exploration licences!
How can they be against it?
Govt has made this deal with the british companies who revealed now good results in their survey wich was agreed by the govt to conduct it
We r dealing with soma oil&gas since the second london conference
This companys job is to promote the somali oil and link all all these oil companies who r interested to the somali govt instead of having local deals

Re: soma OIL&GAS indicates that somalia has oil
First off, they already did that. I believe the Arabs gave Siad Barre oil to delay his developing Somalia's energy resources.
If Somalida want to be successful Ilaahey ka baqaan wax hana bartaan and let them try to work hard to educate themselves. This is the hard work they don't wanna do. They just wanna snatch a quick buck making a cut of something. They think they are smarter than the rest of the world but the rest of the world sees them as cheap beggars who think they are clever. Somalis should look 2-3 generations ahead b/c waxba ma soo socdaan in the short-term.
1. Somali pirates are not a major factor if people wanna get serious. They can kill every pirate all they need is drones. Pirates are just sasab to be in those important waters.
2. If Somalia does have so much oil then tell me why would the Arabs be happy about a competitor right next to their doorsteps?
3. For years Iran/Iraq had their oil offline, Libya was sanctioned, Algeria couldn't produce as much....and the Gulf countries dominated. Why didn't they invest in those oil fields? You don't need to invest in a product when that product is under your own ground. If a few Arabs own a stake in Shell does that mean Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Riyadh are gonna split their market share to help the Somalis. They OWN Aramco, ADNOC, Qatar Petroleum, RasGas etc.
4. The only groups that could be serious about that in Somalia is Turkey & China b/c Turkey wants to be energy brokers, not energy exporters. Already they are gonna have Russian oil travel to their South Stream to get to Europe. If anybody wants Somalia to produce it's Turkey since the Somali Govt. owes them everything and can get a lot of contracts for Somali reconstruction, industries, factories etc. Look Also, Turkey has other industries they don't rely 100% on oil/gas like the Gulf countries. Turkey has an interest in seeing East Africa boom because it's a market for their products. Gulf countries don't care about those markets b/c they have something everyone will buy.
5. China doesn't want to spend a lot of money/time/resources only to find out it turns into another Libya.
6. Teeda kale, who is gonna invest in Somalia when the Govt. is collapsing every year? The International community has billions of dollars of investment money and if their investment is not secure they won't come near Somalia.
7. This is an era of very cheap gas. Nobody is gonna spend all this money to develop Somali oil/gas when there is so much gas everywhere. Don't you know what happened w/ the oil price lately. US Shale oil is going out of business and many wells are not being drilled now due to the fact that Saudi can pump so much oil that nobody will spend their money producing new energy sources.
Bottom Line: There's 100 places more stable and profitable than Somali oil.
Why are you acting like Soma Oil & Gas is Shell, EXXON-Mobil or BP? It's just a company that was formed a few years ago funded by a Russian billionaire to try and get seismic data.
In the oil industry they are called 'wildcatters'. They take the risk that the big players don't take in the hope they either sell out or get a cut when the big players get in.
Anyways, the oil game is for big players now. Don't think Somalia will get into that game right now. Nobody has respect for Somalia's institutions or politics.

Soma oil & gas are owned by foreigners not somalis, the biggest shareholder being a yahuudi british mp. Do not invite ajnabis to to loot and pollute our country you axmaqs.
Re: soma OIL&GAS indicates that somalia has oil
Your asking a Q and then answering yourself!
What is the point?
I don't have energy for your argumentative mudug personality so just stop posting all the time
You know shit about this somali file and the proof is that you comparing soma oil&gas with oil producing companies!
Read the soma oil&gas link! What does it say?
"Investors meeting the somali decision makers"!
These oil producing companies r one of them! that's their only gate!.
You don't know the arab world and you also don't know the economic policies of the countries!
Policies and interests r inseparable!
Strong and stable somalia is the interests of the gulf countries
Having energy means having social, political and economical stability
So, for the greater stability of the region, its their interests somalia to interested by the westren powers who implement an ally regime that enjoys the some level of oil like algeria and doesn't need an arab aid!
According to the world bank somalia could be the second african country in producing oil
Look this article in saudi news paper, they r happy for finding oil in somalia bc it will clean the terrorists from the region!

Siyad barre was depending on russia, china and italy till the late 70s, in the 80s arabs would give him money and cheap oil for closing the russian base in berbera
The US was giving him little money until 88 war
By the late 80s, He decided to depend on local revenues such as the oil and signed deals with the US companies but it was too late as war spreaded in the whole country
Kolahaa carabs!

Some thing you also don't know is that the gulf countries invest in many industries
Example oil constitutes less than 5% of dubais local revenue!

Re: soma OIL&GAS indicates that somalia has oil
One thing is for sure......we are at least a decade away from Somalia producing any oil/gas.

Re: soma OIL&GAS indicates that somalia has oil
sahal80,
Look at Yemen, Iraq, Egypt, Bahrain, Syria. Isn't it in their interests to have those countries stable? So what happened?
The Arabs have their own issues and they will only give small handouts to Somalia. You should be trying to link up with Turkey more.
Carab miyaa isku halaynaysaa? You are truly lost laakin but you have too much kibir to admit anything.

Yes, and in 10 years sahal80 can get an undergraduate and master's degree in petroleum engineering and have 3 years experience and that will help Somalia more in the long run.
Let's look long-term and stop looking for shortcuts.
Re: soma OIL&GAS indicates that somalia has oil
And who is the boss of the UAE? Is it Dubai or Abu Dhabi? Who has more oil revenue?sahal80 wrote:Some thing you also don't know is that the gulf countries invest in many industries

Didn't Dubai just get bailed out by Abu Dhabi?
Why don't you bring up Abu Dhabi's oil revenue?
Re: soma OIL&GAS indicates that somalia has oil
Sxb your suffering from cultural illiteracy and you don't have the rich cultural and political horizons as mine so how can we debate?
You took an example for syria, bahrain and yemen not known of iran being behind this!
UAE and saudi arabia has paid sisi $13bn at one time let alone the rest and they promised another amount like that
Another example your asking why I didn't take example for abu dhabi and not dubai while I was answering back to your accusation of arabs lacking other revenues as turkey and that our oil will effect the international prices
Bc dubai has a different non oil-based economic policies!
See how thick your?
Secodly your not on the point, have no figures just talk!
Let us stop flooding the thread

Re: soma OIL&GAS indicates that somalia has oil
Gedo boi and Geoseven both raised some good valid points very good points if we have to generate revenue from oil, it has to be maximized,or else it will be useless for the Somalis. Sudan is the only one to some extend but the west made sure South Sudan broke away breaking away with all the oil. Sudan had a good deal with the Chinese.
The Arabs have no long term strategic plan for their oil fields especially the Khaleej are doing short in that department. For Oil u have to have long term reliable partners and investors a strong economy to back you up, that is if Somalis ever drill oil.
The dropping of oil prices will be a major problems especially for the Saudis ,lucky for them they have over 800 billion dollars in foreign currency, to deal with their deficit. For Somalida its better to deal with a strong powerful ally if Oil industry in Somalia is going to be developed and it will take years and it will take allot of strong leadership to build a sophisticated Oil industry. I dont see that happening with he current leadership
