Turkey acts as mediator with the ONLF

The Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn took advantage of the trip to Addis Ababa of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey to ask him to use his influence with the Ogaden National Liberation Front(ONLF).



He would like this Eritrea-backed armed opposition movement to accept to enter discussions with his government before the general election in May. The trip comes just at the right time, because Ankara for its part wants to activate its Muslim contacts to approach certain ONLF leaders.

ONLF need to renew their brand and leadership. They should ditch their old name, mobilise and unite with other Somalis and engage in both political level and through rebellion. The more supporters they get in Galbeed the more the Ethiopian gov will feel threatened.

They should rename themselves Somali National Front and become the Hezoballah of Ethiopia.

That name only bring divisions, we need an alternative name that mass can recognise and relate to.

Secondly we need to excercise and make use of the constitution article 39. Every Ethiopian ethnic group has the right to self determination. Sad thing is not many people in that region know about the article 39.

Lilemperor it's not about the name but the politics of the group maybe if ethipia collaps a name for all somalis would have done much, like ximan said ''Somali national front'' would rather fit somalia but not in sg, WSLF would have done the job, but afterall turkey and egypt both know they can't make onlf take peace with ethiopia without onlf benefitting something out of it like splitting away frm ethipia.

the article 39 of the ethiopian constitution was brought up in the meeting that ended bad, ONLF refused to sign under the deal which the reason was that ONLF does not see themselves as part of ethiopia, the worst of it all was that ethiopia came with generals and some random retarded door guard of Cabdi maxamuud to the meeting.

As i said ethiopia came with generals and a minister of kilil 5 which was an humiliating stance by ethiopia, the article had a deal which said that if ONLF signs the constitution they would have shown the world that they are part of ethiopia + laying down the weapons and take peace before the meetings starts, who would have signed that shit?

So ONLF shouldn't waste their time on these ''peace talks'' and continue their way to the goal.

Contnue what exactly? More violence? More fear? Your Approach to this is outdated, people are grown tired of war.

They need an alternative, the best way to go about it is through democracy. Recognising and Implementing article 39.
