Skin color does not equal race.

Skin color doesn't mean shit. When Somalis say they're not "Black"....they're basically just saying that they're not in the same race as the Jamaicans, Afro-Americans, West Africans, or the Southern Africans. That's all they're saying. It's pretty f-king well-established that Somalis fall under their own racial category, along with the Ethiopians and Eritreans. We all fall under the "Horn African" umbrella and we are not in the same "race" as the Jamaicans, no matter how much others try to insist that we are.

But that concept is a little too difficult for Abdi Johnson to understand....He isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, if you know what I mean.

Yeah in real life it's usually arabs who beg somalis. Outsire of the internet I have yet to meet single Somali who claims to be an arab. But I have met plenty of dhegcas who claim somalis.

Technically we dont have the same recent origins to West Africans, but we are pretty closely ralated. You see, the thing is we are a mongrel race comprising of two races that are pretty distant to one another. The two races being Sub saharan African and Euroasian and us Somalis are closer to the Sub saharan African side than for example many North Sudanese and Tigrays are. We are around 60% Sub saharan African and this input comes from a pure nilotic group, and they are extremely close to West African Bantu speaking people. So we should technically have more solidarity with our Black sub saharan African cousin who by the way we look closest to of any population in the planet.

In America, this doesn't apply though, race is a social concept, according to Wiki,
"Race, as a social concept, is a group of people who share similar and distinct physical characteristic."
So you're grouped with those you look closest to. African Americans are for the most part a race mixed population - usually anything from 10 - 25% European = they are all called black - meaning that as a term it groups mixed and non mixed people. And we're not much different, our skin colour and facial features all bring us close to our African American brother. In addition socially there's no way of seriously escaping it.

Most arabs I have met see somalis as part of the arab nation.i am baasto bin berberawi al soomaali not an arab or a negroid.
