Brian Williams lied about aircraft being hit by RPG in Iraq

In 2003, duringg the drum up of the Iraq war brian williams covering it in Iraq told a story about how he was in a line of chinook helicopters that were fired upon and the one in front of him struck forcing them to land

Over the years that story later evolved to him staring down the barrel of and RPG and being in the helicopter that was struck

Finally he was called out by someone who was in that helicopter on facebook which led to Williams apologizing



it seems he was not even with that group at all that was fired upon. He just happened to arrive at the same place an hour later and take pictures. His apology clarified he was not in the struck helicopter, but did not clarify that his initial story 12 years ago was also bogus as he was not with the group at all.......NBC said it was sticking by him, however backlash has grown and he is taking a temporary break

My favourite was the late Peter Jennings (Canadian) on ABC. Together with Tom Brokow and Dan Rather they were good. But they could not be compared to Walter Cronkite.
