Unless the death was accidental, you should accept the consequences of your actions and take personal responsibility for your fuckups.

Honestly I would personally call my cousin if he did that and tell him not only will I not pay a dime but I hope he is either executed or rots in prison for the rest of his life. I will tell him I used the blood money to buy new sneakers or an extra couch I don't need or something to show how much his life is worth to me. Or wipe my ass with the blood money.

The only time I pay qaadhaan is if its for someone in need back home, like couple months ago there was a lady in Nairobi who needed help, she has 4 kids, her husband passed away and she didn't even have the money to bury him cause during the same month the people who use to send her money stopped doing so, she just wanted to bury her husband, leave kenya and go back to Somalia(called someone in Nairobi the same minute, and found out that it was a legit story)....Then I paid that qaadhaan in a heartbeat.

Blood money is also practised in Japan and Korea. I don't see anything wrong with, at the end of the day the victims family has the choice to accept blood money or punishment. If they choose blood money then good for them.

One of my uncles killed 2-3 man by accident back in the civil war days we had to pay blood money at least that's what my mom told me oddly enough in the us he carries 9mm
Another one of my uncles killed 1 man also in civil war days but the victim family wanted blood so we had to put him down

If your Sub clan don't pay up, then the victims family would seek revenge.
Paying up is a tradition. This ensures that no revenge must take place.
