Sudan isn't East Africa proper.When I think of East Africa Ethiopia,Somalia,Kenya,Zanzibar & Eritrea come to mind.

Exactly, we Somalis couldn't be any more different from the rest of them. We are not the same as them, and this is something that almost every Somali knows deep down. Something he's very well-aware of, whether he lives in Afgooye or Canada.

we Somalis are EXACTLY the same in terms of language, culture, and physical appearance as the Oromo, Afar, and Rendille. we share ALOT of similarities in terms of pastoral/nomadic culture as well as physical appearance with the Arbore, Dassanech, Masai, and Samburu. and although they live half-way across the continent, we also share MANY similarities in terms of nomadic/pastoralist culture as well as physical appearance with the west african Fulani. and as i've stated many times before, both East Africans and West Africans share a common genetic ancestor that lived about 30,000 years ago (making them closer to us genetically than almost every other group of humans outside of Africa).

the idea that we are "different from the rest of them" couldn't be farther from the truth. we share our closest relationship in terms of language, culture, physical appreance, and GENETIC ANCESTRY with our neighbors across the African continent.

the undeniable fact is that Africa is a large continent, just Like Asia. Asians might share the same physical features but you can simply know a Japanese from Vietnamese. Same goes for Africa, we might share a pigmented skin but our degree of pigmentation and physical features vary rendering it easy to distinguish East African from West African. In more extreme view of things, I would say its, the pigmented vs the non-pigmented. Black Africans vs whites (Semitic, Caucasian, asian etc)....that more extreme view..

If you showed me that picture without any context I would say they are somalis without even having to think about it. You seem to lack basic READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS. Read the post I quoted more closesly and see exactly what I was responding to. The poster said that outsiders are misguided for thinking that every country "south of the Sahara is ebony" and that they "don't care to familiarize themselves with any African nation with brown skinned people."

I didn't post that picture to argue that those people look like nigerians. Obviously waa Somali. Specifically waa dhulbahante from Buuhoodle. I posted that picture to counteract any delusion the poster I quoted may have had about Somalia being a country filled with "brown skinnned people." My post was simply to HIGHLIGHT that MOST Somalis have BLACK SKIN. the same BLACK SKIN you see ubiqituous in all Africans countries south of the sahara.

I have never said Somalis are EXACTLY the same as "nigerians, south africans, or kenyans." Africa is the most diverse continent on earth. I have never said we are all the same. that is your MISREPRESENTATION of what I've stated. I've only said that we share SIMILARITIES with the rest of our African brothers. The most obvious being skin color. However, we also share an IMPORTANT genetic link. The P2 transition is a mutation in the Y chromosome that connects all African males (outside of the bushmen) to a common ancestor that lived 30,000 years.

Saaxib, this guy MaliPrince should be banned from this forum. I am 100 percent convinced that he's not a real Somali, but he's a half-breed instead. Notice how we get into the same arguments about this stuff almost everyday, and he's always insistent that Somalis are no different than other Africans.

He is actually claiming that we're related to the Bantus simply because we share a common ancestor with them 30,000 years ago. Do you see the poor logic here? Does he not understand how long ago 30 000 years is?

30 000 years is before the beginning of the last Ice Age. It's before the beginning of human civilization and agriculture. 30 000 years ago is around the time the Alibistains arrived in North America. It's THAT long ago. Ancient Egypt was prospering around 5000 years ago, but now this wretched MaliPrince character is reaching back 30 000 years, trying desperately to link Somalis to these other Africans. All the genetic evidence proves that Somalis aren't related to these people, yet MaliPrince keeps insisting that we are. Wallahi I'm telling you: MaliPrince is not a real Somali. My Avatar photo is the image of a classic Somali man. The features of this man are all distinctively Somali. You can look at him for 1 second and automatically conclude that he's a Somali man.

The same goes for me. Everywhere I go, people know that I'm a Somali and at the very worst I get mistaken for an Ethiopian...but that's pretty much it. Once when I was in Mumbai on a business trip with my Uncle, people thought I was Sudanese. But that was the VERY MOST I've ever gotten.

MaliPrince however, admitted that he's' been mistaken for a Nigerian his entire life by his classmates. This fact alone says a million words. MaliPrince most definitely has Jareer features so he seeks to extrapolate his insecurities onto the rest of us. He's most definitely a half-Somali and he doesn't have any Somali features. He refuses to accept the fact that he isn't a real Somali and he will NEVER be considered a real Somali, which is why he's bitter and he's arguing in this manner.

MaliPrince is the unfortunate result of interracial marriage. Somalis should avoid marrying/reproducing with Adoons or else they will end up with half-breeds like MaliPrince who have an identity crisis and a chip on their shoulders. You can sense the bitterness from his posts.
