This is happening fast!
"Elsewhere in the region:
Mexico, Colombia and Argentina decriminalised the possession of small amounts of marijuana a few years ago
In Guatemala, President Otto Perez Molina is proposing moves to push for the legalisation of marijuana and potentially other drugs
Chile and Costa Rica are also debating the introduction of medical marijuana policies
Uruguay last year became the first country in the world to approve the growth, sale and distribution of marijuana"

Never understood why governments across the world ban marijuana and keep hard drugs like alcohol legal.

This would be funny if so many were not in jail.

Because it's easy to tax alcohol whereas you can grow your own ganja in your backyard & that will result in Big Brother missing out some tax revenue. Now that "small amount of marijuana" has been legalized in some US states & the state governments set up systems for taxing medical & recreational use of it everyone seems to want jump on the bandwagon.Estarix wrote:Never understood why governments across the world ban marijuana and keep hard drugs like alcohol legal.

I see you can grow marijuana in your own backyard. That makes sense, im sure most folks whom arent arent particularly adept would be buying it from the market if it was legalized though. wouldn't it make sense to also ban alcohol where alcohol related damages costs the government (police, healthcare) billions each year. Does the money made make up for the damages caused and the lives lost?

Alaska just quietly legalized Hashiishada. That's state number three. Closer than Jamaica for many Canadians...
