First of all, there have been mediocre explanations floating around like: the kids come from deprived homes and got disillusioned with western life; that is the liberal explanation.
Some say teenage girls are seeking romance and sexual gratification and its the forbiden fruit notion and isis glamorizes and romanticises the virtues of Islamic life under the caliphate and they appeal to the naivety of the young and hasty.
Some say it’s the religious doctrine that these kids have adopted that skewes their world-view and radicalises them.
First of all, these kids tend to come from 2 groups from society, First groups is,
-Reforming criminal class and the downtrodden
-The second group is the pious disheartened middle classes and the politically aware young recalcitrant.
I will not go into the characters of those that are susceptible but I will shows certain traits.
First of all the concept of self for filing prophecy needs to be understood and the best story is the story of the Grand Mosque seizur in mecca by Juhayman al-Otaybi.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juhayman_al-Otaybi
Juhayman was a good man but a man with a twisted mind, who wanted to shape reality in accordance with his believes.
He scripted events in line with prophetic prognostication; he had a screen-play that was dramatic and Hollywoodesque.
Juhayman believed subconsciously without explicitly expressing it, that its our role to create the moment and the environment for the truth to prevail.
Juhayman created a syntactic reality
He had his religious sources covered, even the most learned man in islam could not give religious counter argument because the moment was obscure and Juhayman fit perfectly with the sunni prophecy.
Juhayman even got his brother in law to play the rol of the Mahdi.
the brother in laws name was, Muhammed ibn Abdullah, he was descendent of Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Ṭalib, he was from banu hashim and Quraysh
The brother in law stood under the kaaba just like it was prophesied and an army came to take them just like the prophecy, this was perfected in line with the prophecy it was surreal and that surreality even gave it a religious flavour to it but in actuality it was Islamicly contravention
Now what was the problem with Juhayman? A pious disciplined and righteous man, how can he violate the sanctity of the holy grand mosque? How can he kill people inside the grand mosque?
In order to understand Juhayman and those that join isis, you need to understand Islamic eschatology, kharijite characteristics and the role of as-Shaam (Greater Syria) and the role of the e Mahdi and the black flag from Khorasan. you need to understand all the eschatological and classical symbols of islam( bin ladan in a gave has great symbolism he want you to associate his cave and his action with the prophets in Jabal al-Nour)

As-Sham
There is a thin line between good intention and disreputable behaviour.
The problem is that people are looking for signs of prophetic eschatological narrations, and they use asymmetrical data to create a narrative and a screen play that synthesise the available data with the historical prophetic data, and from these amalgamation arises a picture that is self-evident and apocalyptic.
Once the picture in the mind of the seeker is established, then the second stage is what to do, well the hadith are clear about As-sham and what do when the time of al-Malhamah comes.
I leave you with a hadith and picture.
you can ask me questions about me views in the thread because; I have not gone into great details due to the complexity of the subject.
This hadith in relation with current events in Syria can really be interpreted in many ways and getting the wrong or right conclusion is a matter of moral duty or can lead to misjudgement, transgression and mischievous if the wrong faction is chosen
chemical weapons used in syria and the kids that diedAbu Hurayrah has narrated that the Prophet said:
A man will emerge from the depths of Damascus. He will be called Sufyani. Most of those who follow him will be from the tribe of Kalb. He will kill by ripping the stomachs of women and even kill the children. A man from my family will appear in the Haram, the news of his advent will reach the Sufyani and he will send to him one of his armies. He (referring to the Mahdi) will defeat them. They will then travel with whoever remains until they come to a desert and they will be swallowed. None will be saved except the one who had informed the others about them. (Mustadrak Al-Hakim)
