So she earns more than you..

Post by Marques »

Does that hurt your ego, fellas?

Came across an old study,
At a time when the gender wage gap is still alive and well—full-time working women earn just 77 cents for every dollar that men earn—a recent Pew Research Center study found a striking statistic: 40% of American families’ primary breadwinners are mothers, and 37% of those breadwinners–an estimated 5.1 million–are wives who make more than their husbands.

I've been slaving away, trying very very hard to succeed and progress in my industry, and one of my fears is being overtaken by a Xaliimo - in our community, the girls are doing, without doubt, far better than the boys. Most guys must be either;

a) completely oblivious; they will have a rude awakening when they realise they can't approach 90% of the girls they want because they don't have comparable means.
b) resigned to the fact they will find a miskiin baadiyo chick who share no similarity to them. Lot of guys will say this is caadi but forreal it's stupid. If you're western raised, you won't last with fobs.

The future is bleak walahi. I predict more Somali girls marrying out, choosing celibacy etc the population will be heavily polarised if a solution isn't found.

Definitely, how are you going to be the Head of the Household if your wife is paying all the expenses?

Whilst its true that more considerably more somali women enter university, i think you are exaggerating the extent to which they outdo men in this sector, the difference isnt extreme. Secondly Somali women rarely pick stem related degrees in comparison to the men who relatively do so at much higher rates. Liberal arts degrees aka Mikey mouse degrees isnt going to get you earning much more than your average farax with only GCSEs under his belt.
Lastly you are right that many women will have few choices but to marry out. But i dont see how this will polarise the already week somali community. Most of them will simply be absorbed into the communities of their husbands.

I would find it shameful and unacceptable but unlikely to happen.

Even if she does, I would still pay all the expenses and won't ask her shit. I hate asking people anything let alone my own wife.

Tell this day I haven't forgot what my mom told me..she said that in the ild days a man married a girl from well to do family when he came from a destitute background. Family allowed to get married and this girl brought all her stuff to her new home with her new husband. The next day while the new wife was away the man smashed everything under name in the home and he discarded the trash. She came home and said "what in your effing mind did u do to my belongings " and he replied " no matter what I'm times of a confrontation between me and you you would've resorted to making a big fuss about it and how you own them so how would tht benefit me ?"

Moral of the story is ..don't rely on her ..keep your finances apart ..don't use her money ...most importantly be the bedroom bully

This whole notion that men are threatened by 'educated' or the favourite feminist buzzword 'empowered' women is not true for most men with a healthy self-concept. A confident man would have no qualms marrying an educated women who outearns him, if it wasn't for the fact that women are hypergamous and always look to marry up. So it's not that we have fragile egos, it's that the women will resent us and respect us less for not being more educated and bringing home a bigger portion of the bacon. Who needs such a headache?

Also, there is no doubt that Somali girls in the west are having a very difficult time finding suitable mates and that soon this will turn into a full-blown crisis. For Somali men who have their shit together it will become a moral duty to marry more than one wife.

To all the dudes saying that they wanna take care of her and the expenses, well know that you can still provide for the family.
I earn and have more money than him yet he pays for everything. I don't spend my money. It's his obligation to take care of me. :blessed:

Whatever her income, everything is evenly split. Half the rent/mortgage, half the groceries, half the bills. Your own car payments, your own insurance. If our son needs glasses, you will pay half. If our daughter needs field trip money, you will be counting your loose change. If we go to a cruise, you will take out your checkbook.

If we go to dinners alone, I pay one day and you pay the next time we go.

Whatever is left, you can enjoy it on yourself and same with me.

I am,

Abdi "You must prove your love" Johnson
