I'd literally empty out my bank account to watch a televised debate between Dr. Adnan Ibrahim, by himself, versus all the big-name "mainstream" shuyookh. Speaking of, have any of you EVER seen a big-name "mainstream" shaykh debating on any given mas'alah? Of course not. In their "mainstream" interpretation of Islam that has been dominant for most of the past century, there is no such thing as a debate or discussion. There is merely papal-style edicts, which if you disagree with, your Islam will be called into question. Don't believe that mortgages and student loans are haram because interest != usury ? Compare that to the classical scholars like Imam Malik, Sufyaan al-thowri, Abu Hanifa, and more who would engage in vibrant debates in public where almost EVERYTHING was up for debate.
