Obama calls the Iran nuclear deal a "once in a lifetime opportunity"
Probably the most insight we've ever gotten into Obama's thinking on Middle East Policy.

I don't trust Obomba one bit.....he has always been the smiley black face of America's imperial death machine.
This seems like a more subtle method of going to war....pretending to seek a diplomatic solution in order to sell the war to a war weary public.

Once it gets a deal, Iran will be admitted into the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and China and Russia will have the back of the Iranians. Meaning the sanctions will be reduced and actively oppose the remaining sanctions while beefing up Iran's military.original dervish wrote:I don't trust Obomba one bit.....he has always been the smiley black face of America's imperial death machine.

Turkey and India are the 2 main countries that officially accept sanctions against Iran but unofficially are its biggest trade partners. They are Iran's best sanction busters.
The sanctions against Iran are hurting the Dollar and Euros long term stability because they have encouraged countries like Iran, Turkey, India, Pakistan, China and Russia to trade with each other using currency swaps in their mutual currencies and gold.
This is one of China's many small moves towards the end of dollar hegemony over the world economy, they have been quietly yet furiously encouraging this behind the scenes.
Obama wants to derail China's long term plans to destroy dollar hegemony and give it a couple more decades to survive, he will see a deal and let the sanctions against Iran go.
But will Congress agree? That's the question but my gut says he'll get the support there.

Re: Obama calls the Iran nuclear deal a "once in a lifetime opportunity"
Iran is to be allowed to continue enriching uranium. That's a necessary step for them to move from fossil fuel electricity to nuclear (which is in fact what the US advised the Shah to do back in the day.......if the Ayatollahs had just postponed the revolution a bit, Iran would already have nuclear power generation and this would all be a moot point).
Iran's position is that it wants nuclear electricity generation, but that it is religiously opposed to nuclear weapons. This deal lets Iran go nuclear for domestic generation purposes, while providing a level of oversight that will ensure they will not be able to enrich uranium to a grade necessary for military purposes (which, for the ignorant among us, is higher than that necessary for reactor fuel).
Really, it's difficult to see how a better deal could have been struck
On the other hand, right wingers are flip flopping like a fish out of water. After the Congress speech, saying no deal is a good deal, Netanyahu was filmed saying war isn't the only other option to a deal, but a deal is the third option. WTF?????
Are right wing memories that short, that they can't see through the BS, or do they just not want to?

If you honestly belief the American Zionist power configuration will just quietly walk into the night of decline, then you obviously know nothing.
War is the only option they have.....even nuclear war if necessary.
The Ruskies and the Chinks are shit scared of American military power, which extends over land, sea, air, space, cyber space.
War is coming within the next ten years.....hopefully I'll be in Somalia....one of the few places that will escape nuclear annihilation.

They've been saying this since the 50s. If they have not managed to wipe each other in the most tense and disturbing periods of the cold war.original dervish wrote:If you honestly belief the American Zionist power configuration will just quietly walk into the night of decline, then you obviously know nothing.

What makes you think they will do it now which by the way pales in comparison. Dont be foolish.

@FAH, I agree with most of your statements with one exception: It is not India that is Iran's biggest trade partners; it is China, in addition to Turkey. This is the country that kept the Iranian economy afloat. You're on the spot with the rest of your comment.FAH1223 wrote:Once it gets a deal, Iran will be admitted into the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and China and Russia will have the back of the Iranians. We should remember what happened to Libya. No doubt this agreement will be used as a colored revolution if the Iranians don't toe the line. This is the main reason why IRGC (Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps), the Supreme Leader, and powerful conservative legislator is silent on this agreement.
Btw, Fah, with your age, you're well-informed on many topics.

But Khameni definitely backs it... Remember, Rouhani is doing the bidding of him...
