Are any of you familiar with old historical texts or even modern ones based on primary sources of information that can shed light on what people inhabited the medieval Muslim sultanates that stretched all the way to present day Shewa.
I was reading about the Arsi Oromo and how by the 19th century parts of the Hadiya Muslim people had become fully assimilated and oddly enough had become pagans after having been Muslim in the Middle ages. Even the ones who escaped being encircled by the Oromo had reverted back to paganism according to academic sources. The Hadiya and the neighbouring Sidama people, who were also partially overran by the Oromos, are mainly Evangelical Protestants due to the efforts of European missionaries.
p.s Futhul Habash being the exception.
