Samsung S6 Edge

Post by EvolSyawla »

Who's getting one?

I haven't purchased a new phone (except this cheap replacement) since the S3, and I'm considering it...except there's no way I'm paying $900 lol  :?

Hmmmmm maybe I should include it in my mehir? :notsure:

Stick with the regular Samsung S6. The Edge phone has a curved screen, which is not really great or useful at all. I wouldn't bother getting it

Is that the only difference? I'm not one for basic gimmicks. :)

IMO it's not really a gimmick.

1.Curved screen is definitely something unique for 2015 & it also gives the illusion of smaller bezels.

2.Finally they (Samsung) used premium materials (Glass housing & aluminium side trim).

3.They ditched removable batteries & in doing so the phone is now uni-body (winning) I hate creaky phones.

4.Colorway options (Very pleasing to the eye)

5.New touchwiz looks refined & even better than many launcher apps available on Google market (Again Winning)

I've had an Lg for a couple years now. Both G2&3 incredible devices but I'm longing for change.Design language atleast in lg's case isn't enough to keep me.

Was an Htc fanboy for awhile but i feel they'll go the way of Blackberry. The new M9 is nothing to write home about IMO.

Don't pay $ticker that's insane.Instead wait about 2 months maybe 3 the prices will drop they always do.By Mid August surely you'd be able to find an unlocked Gsm edge hovering around $600-620.

I say go for it. :stylin:

The curved screen is not unique. Remember the Blackberry?

Removable batteries...how can ANYONE dislike this idea? The Samsung battery life is horrible - when you're constantly using your phone, it doesn't last the whole day. So I normally have an extra battery to switch out. Not to mention, the fact that battery life is not static for the duration of your phone. What, will I have to get a new phone when my battery becomes old and doesn't carry the charge as it use to? lol

Glass screen...I'm a klutz...so I'm worried about a heavier more disastrous fall! lol

All the things you mentioned, is this unique to the Edge? or does the standard have them as well? (Minus the curved screen lol)

But you're right. I've waited this many years, what's a few more months for the price to go down.

A Blessing from Rumi
May these vows and this marriage be blessed.
May it be sweet milk,
this marriage, like wine and halvah.
May this marriage offer fruit and shade, like the date palm.
May this marriage be full of laughter,
Your every day a paradise.
May this marriage be a sign of compassion,
a seal of happiness here and hereafter.
May this marriage have a fair face and a good name,
an omen as welcome
as the moon in a clear blue sky.
I am out of words to describe
how spirit mingles in this marriage.

Amiin my dear, and beautiful poem. I am pleasantly surprised by that! (Considering you were trolling me yesterday  )

However, I speak as anyone else on this site. "One day" 'InshaAllah when it comes" type of thing.

It looks so niceeeee tho. I love to get one but I can't see my love affair with Apple ending anytime soon.

Oh and as for the shitty battery life, I'm sure iPhones are a lot worse

I pre-ordered the edge but accidentally received the normal S6 and decided to keep it.

Battery does not last long, its a let down

Nope, still unique in the sense it utilizes a modern form factor & the beauty of this form factor is that the bezels seem much smaller than they actually are.Huge phone bezels totally kill any appeal a phone might have it's a step back! So any innovation that can successfully mask those hideous things is a win imo.

For the battery bit I was once in the same boat.I wanted additional battery life to last me throughout the day, however this was back in 2012.Technology (Efficient Processors) have evolved since then.A 2600Mah battery is sufficient enough to last throughout the day.

This is coming from someone that torrents/Game/Stream & site navigate pretty much anytime I have free time.Kill unwanted apps, use Wi-Fi only when necessary you know the drill and you'll be fine.

Again, eliminating the removable battery allows the phone more uniformity (Uni-Body).Do you like phones that lack solid build quality? I sure don't.I want my money's worth.

And yes the standard s6 is EXACTLY the same in construction/specs only difference being the curved screen ofcourse.

The only other phone worth getting this year would be the Lg G4 or possibly the 2015 Moto x.

Side Note, the entire phone is essentially all glass. The only aluminium to be found are on the sides.

Both G2 & 3 have internal batteries that I bought off contract & the phones are still as pristine as the day I bought them. :wow:

@Essence89 Don't settle! I think between the standard & the edge theirs an $80 difference. I'd return it. Or atleast get reimbursed the difference.
