After growing my hair long for a long period of time, I decided to go traditional and got a clean shaven head, to my surprise, my temples slightly receded, although hair on my hairline remained where it was, and there the scalp is pretty fine, i was surprised at first, comparing my hairline to my pics of me when I was 15, but apparently at the ages of 17-30 its common to see a slight recession at the temples, I even asked my father about it and he said a word in somali for it, and that it is uncommon to see a male to have the same hairline as they did when they were a child.
