Even though they confused the date of the Gadabuursi script with that of Kaddare script(1950's), it was actually 1933.

Still it was nice seeing Somalis get mentioned in the article.

no it is not the somali alphabet.
The somali alphabet is based on the latin alphabet!

But the gadabursi script is an original somali alphabet which is not based neither Latin, arabic, farsi or Ethiopian!
it is the most complete, simplistic and original somali alphabet!
It should have been used by the somali but the Siad barreh had a different agenda and did not promote it!

Hence the script is now a specialist somali script!
deemed only for academics

I believe I either this script the Osmaniya or the Arabic one should have been used as the written script of the Somali language.Instead UNESCO pushed and lobbied Afwayne and his regime to adopt the Latin for which we have no cultural connectio whatsoever.

Oh that's why. Makes alot of sense.

Is't similar to Ethiopian though? Because I've seen Ethiopian alphabet and letters and it seems hard as fuck.

I am glad we stuck to the latin Alphabets,..BTJXKH.

Way easier in my opinion.

The closest thing to an indigenous language we have is Arabic. I'd say 60% of all Somalis can read or write in Arabic @least their name anyway.

I think that should count for something, IMHBO (in my honest barawani opinion).

Umm, I don't think u choose a National alphabet because its the best looking.

It's all about simplicity and having generations grow up and influenced by it.

Boy am I glad u werent part of the committee who decided on the nations alphabet.
