The ones that were born in the U.S? Most of them are dumb. A 5 year old is being spoon fed. They can't speak in 2 minutes straight, they either throw a tantrum or just look at you with puppy dog eyes. Even 10 year old are dumber than the average non Somali kid. I see cadaan or madoow kids who are totally independent by the age of 3 year old. They form their opinion, eat their food and will go the bathroom by themselves. Is it the parenting or there's underlying problems that the parents are not noticing?

Wallahi I've noticed this too. It's a very strange phenomenon. Maybe it's down to the dysgenic effect of too many low IQ Somalis having too many kids. We need smart Somali couples to make lots and lots of babies, but intelligence is correlated with higher levels of education, which is in turn correlated with lower levels of fertility, unfortunately.

Not only they are dumber but are wilder than other non-somali kids. Something is not right with somali kids.

From what I've heard about the new generation, the males are genuinely tyrone tier when it comes to grades and behavior while I'd say the girls are 1/3 teenage brides whose sole interest is "completing their faith", 1/3 tyronettes, and 1/3 becky in training.

Like Jug said, it all boils down to room temperature IQ parents having litters of kids.

Ninyahow, for a far lefty we have a lot in common. Ur assessment of my generation is pretty accurate. Too many of the guys have become degenerate disciples of African American hood culture, while the girls like u said are either Salafi 'ukhtis', ratchet baby-momma types, or feminist career drones. It's sooooo hard to find a well-adjusted Somali who grew up in the West, who's kept their Somali identity while successfully navigating life in the West.

The rapid deterioration of our community in a single generation is basically foreshadowing our fate if we don't sort things out back home and gtfoh as soon as humanly possible

Not looking forward to some white guy saying he's 1/4 German, Irish, Scottish, and Somali or some AA talking about how he got his "good hair" from his Somali great-grandmother.

It has something to do with the nature of our parenting. There is a lot of talking at the children, rather than talking with (having conversations and thus developing speech and vocab) and discouraging independent thinking. I notice in many households children have limited instructions to do chores or take responsibility for even clearing out their toys or putting their plates in the kitchen sink.
Anyway best thing to do for an expecting mother/father is to be educated on child development. It is a good starting point to get aquainted with the needs of children and milestones they reach as they grow. Simple decision as the nutrition you provide them can have a major impact on their intelligence and behavior.

I like the economics of raising a child....studies show even the zip code a child is raised in and how early they move to that zip code has an impact of his/her earning potential.

There's no doubt that environment and socialization play a big role in either aiding or hampering a child from reaching their cognitive/intellectual ceiling. But the ceiling itself is determined by genetics. Also, better socialization and home environment is not a given even with parent-training and education, because it too is pre-determined by the intelligence level of the parents. If they're dumb as rocks, they can't provide their children with the stimulating environment they need to reach their full potential.

We Somalis are out of our comfort zone, that's probably the reason why we're like this. Somalis in Somalia generally raise their kids in a community manner, where the neighbors, cousins, and grandparents contribute to the raising of a child.

In the West, that isn't as practical and Somali families often don't have that luxury of relying on the community to assist in raising a child. As a result, the kid imitates the worst types of influences, and turns out the way he does.

That's my guess.

Unfortunately in my assessment, there are already thousands of these mongrels floating about in Somali communities in the west.
