Deputy Sheriff's work mostly in the Jails and courts. They also serve process papers, arrest warrants and do evictiond. In most states, they aren't the primary law enforcement agency, so when u call 911, you'd get the local PD and not the Sheriff's Department.

They do the same job or similar job. We have administration police and the regular police in kenya. Almost the same Job but different name. The administration police in kenya mostly deal with tuulo (village) business matters. They are cocks (dhiiq) in the villages while regular police deal with matters in cities and towns. I think sharifow's role is in the villages and sub towns. I think I understand it now

Cool-Man, in each state (gobol) there is counties (degmo) so each county has it's own sherif. Difference between the sherifs and the local police is that the sherifs operate all over the county while the police department of each city of that degmo only operate within city boundaries.

Also the head of the sherif is elected by the people of that county while the head of the police department is never elected.
