The Puntland you professed to have worked with to take the census is now claiming outright that they are 5m people ( round it up)..they have just rejected the population estimation you've criticized us on calling it what is was, a mental ward residence math work..that's what it was ...your credibility is on the line sir ....

It's close to 5 million because Puntland included the Isaaq portions of Sool and Sanaag and the Hawiye portions of Mudug in their population estimate.

Of course Puntland would reject this report. Even the Prime Minister of the Somali Federal Government and the Director of the organization that was blamed for the population estimate ( Heritage Institute of Policy Studies) have all distanced themselves from it.

However, I think the Puntland government is trolling Abdi Aynte here. Look at their estimate/table and compare it to the one he released. :russ:

This report is more accurate than the BS that was released yesterday. Puntland's population is close to one quarter that of Somalia. This includes the hundreds of thousands of permanent IDPs.

What I know for a fact is that Bari has already passed the 1 million mark

The population of Puntland(Sool and Sanaag included) is around 3 million to 3.5 million at most, give or take.

This is the reality, if you exclude Sanaag and Sool(DH&WG) then the population will probably around 2 million--2.2 million.

I never said this report is 100% accurate. i challenged you to prove them wrong with numbers... As lamagoodle said, everything else is fadikudirir.com

Again, I said BOSASO, not Puntland.

1- Banadir = Mogadishu (100% urban)
2- Mogadishu land area is 5.76 times greater than Bosaso and 1.68 than Hargeisa according to verifiable satellite images.

Scenario #1:
If Bosaso's population is 600k, then Mogadishu would be around 3.5M and Hargeisa with 2.06M. No matter how you slice it or error margin you use - either Mogadishu is under calculated or...

Scenario #2:
If you look at it from this report's numbers:
Banadir = Mogadishu = 1,65 M

Then
Bosaso = 286,75K
Hargeisa = 982.28K

Do you have any other report that's as comprehensive as this government/UN one? If yes, pls share it with us... other than that fadikudurir.com

Waryaa, if we went with scenario 2, that would mean the Waqooyi Galbeed population was severely undercounted.
Let's say Hargeisa is 980k as you calculated, adding in Berbera (150k) and Gabiley (60k) would give an urban population of 1.19M, approximately 387k more than what the report published. It would also mean the total population for Waqooyi Galbeed is 1,629,263 which is 20k shy of Banadir's pop :lupe:

The problem with fadhi-ku-dirir kids is that they never reason as long as things don't confirm with their qabiil propaganda.

1st all, if I m not mistaken in this report they used the word "estimated". Second they clearly mentioned that satellite mapping was used which means we have not even used 4x4 cars and drove around.
Third: whether we like it or not this is what will be used for the time being until we can do a better one.
Fourth: have you travelled though the country? There r actually no people outside big cities even the south where they used to tell us it is bit populated, people have moved to urban areas.
