The Basra chronicles

Post by metamorphosis »

The year is 2000 and standing in the overweight aisle at Target is Basra. Basra is 19 years old senior and she is making arrangements for prom night which takes place in exactly 7 days. She quickly grabbed several dresses and went to the fitting room to try them on and she anticipated ..none of them fit. Most girls her age worry about finding the right dresses to wear to prom but Basra's main worry isn't about finding a pretty dress. The only question that dangles around the back of her mind is "will any of this fit me"? . She would be delighted to find anything that fits her. She comes back from the fitting angry and makes her way back to the aisles attentively searching for an aisle that has bigger size dresses and she finds none. Furious and frustrated she finds the manager.

Basra: ma'm..I have searched around your store for a dress that fits me and I couldn't find one! I even went to the overweight aisle and I am not even fat!
Manager: young lady first of all you are fat and the only aisle that is suitable for your kind is the overweight aisle and if you couldn't find anything that fits you there then I am sorry but we have nothing bigger. It is not our fault that you are the overweight of the overweight people in this town.

Devastated and heartbroken Basra storms out of the store screaming "but prom is in a week!". Aside from having no dress Basra also has no date. She has no date(she typically doesn't) yet but she is hoping she will find someone to go with her in a weeks time. Basra goes home and immediately picks up a bucket of ice cream from the fridge and goes to her room sad and depressed. After she finishes the ice cream gets an idea that could solve her problems. Basra was fat, extremely ugly, but she was smart. Will she solve her problems?

Stay tuned for part 2.
