why somali people dont show feelings!
I have noticed that somali people dont show their true feelings and insecurities, they're too proud. Cadaan people are very open and admit when they feel depressed or lack confidence. but somali people are always brave and never reveal their inner weakness. i want to know why, we're all human, we all have things we fear, self esteem issues, emotional problems. This is why divorce rate is so high, they cant admit love for one another, instead they rather be alone and miserable. Do they fear ridicule or been laughed at or perhaps judged.
For instance everyone on this forum is so fake, lighten up people we all got issues reveal it and talk about it, if you cant talk about it to strangers anonymously then how you can talk about in real life.

Re: why somali people dont show feelings!
That's not entirely true. Each culture has its own way of "showing emotions" and to judge all cultures behavior based on the standard of Cadaan people is down right delusional, and to mention lacking self respect. Ever heard of Cilmi Boodhari? I doubt it, because if you did then you wouldn't have made this thread. People call our nation "A Nation Of Poets" for a reason, we wear our hearts on our sleeves the likes of which I have never seen in other cultures. Please get your facts straight before you spew another nonsense.

Cadaan people are too jileec. How many stories have we heard of 10 year old kids hanging themselves in wardrobes because other kids made fun of their zits? Adkeeysan bey aan layhn. Waxanna wey la weynaadaan. Somalis on the other hand wey ad adag yihiin, ma isdilayyo even if you call him laanghadhe lug all his life. Wuu iskakaa celinayya.
However in the realm of relationships we could do with being more like Cadaanka. It is always nice to see dad gaboowey oo haddana aad isu jecel oo meelahaas isla socda. I don't think i've ever seen that kind of jeceel amoong Somalida, usually markay islaanta gaboowdo ayeey sida qashinka u tuuraan. Whereas Cadaanku wey qiimeeyan such women.

Showing emotions is an individual level, and not a group level. Everyone is different on this!

I want my man to cry for me like in Hindi movies. I want him to sing and dance when he's expressing his love for me.
Yeah I would probably laugh at him and order my brothers to beat him up, somalis are meant to fight not show emotions. We are fighters, Warriors...

Re: why somali people dont show feelings!
For me personally, I do have pretty strong "pain" tolerance and I can deal with a lot of things, and it takes a lot to make me angry. But I bleed, I get hurt and I fall just like anybody else. We are all human at the end of the day. Some people are just more sensitive than others.

Re: why somali people dont show feelings!
What you said about romantic relationships isn't true as Agent pointed out.
However, we are taught to be emotionally stoic through adversity, whether you are a male or a female. Its okay to not have it altogether, sometimes you just need a good cry or to talk to someone.
