In a more simplistic way that you guys might understand this is how you lot undermine each others clans and sub clans when u are engaged in qabiil bashing . Notice how some state sub clans after sub clans of their own kin and in turn generalise his apponent's qabiil lol....This is the same. When western societies are undermining us they tend to use black or African when they know for a fact that's a demeaning and belittling.
You would never in your wildest dreams come across someone deliberately and consciously referring to one's self as White/Yellow or European/Asian for that matter. Pple tend to go beyond that it's healthy, natural and expected.
And as someone said it's a label every society has but the western folks have made sure to standardise it and African Americans have used it as their own to have some sort of belonging.
