High fashion in Congo, la sapologie.

Post by RoobleAlWaliid »

La Sape, an abbreviation based on the phrase Société des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Élégantes (The Society of Ambiance-Makers and Elegant People) and hinting to the French slang word "sape" which means "attire", is a social movement centered in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo. An adherent of La Sape is called a sapeur. The movement embodies the elegance in style and manners of colonial predecessor dandies as a means of resistance. They are in stark contrast with the environment they live in.

They spend their monthly salaries on these expensive clothes to imitate their colonial masters.

Even Stromae joined in, the man with Somali ancestry.

He is talking about the origins of the Tutsi or something ''far origins''...not his recent ancestors, lol. He must believe in the Hamitic theory of the Tutsi.

Yeah I met some that really look Somali. I just think a large part of them have intermixed with the local Bantu's and some a minority have stayed pure. Just like Somalis, they have a clan structure , but not as strong.

I remember reading and listening to a interview once on Somali BBC about an old man of whom father was Ogaden and mom was Tutsi of the reer Boqor. Pretty interesting.
