I read before on snet, that there were a female candidate for somaliland presidency, and she was from awdal....i would appreciate if anyone can inform me her name, a link page giving more details on this issue.

You are mistaking Luul Hassan Mataan for the lady who ramzy is talking about. It was a different woman who stood against Egal Aun around the 1997 election. Luul is from the diaspora I think and is usually preoccupied with humanitarian projects as you mentioned.

@ Ramzy I can't remember her real name but she use to be called " Wiilo and also Labo" looool she was tom boy kinda woman, use to talk, walk and act like a man hence the names Wiilo and Labo. And she wasn't Gadabuursi but Ciise, although, she was a native asal Boramawi and had Gadabursi mother.

by the way in 1993 in cigal's cabinet of ministers there was the first female minister ,she was from sanag but i dont know her name or what ministy she was appointed to. any idea?

I am really not good at searching the net, but I doubt there are any articles on her in google archives.....And yeh I was wrong about the 1997 since u mentioned the candidates that stood, So, it could be cigaals second term, do you remember just before his death there was an election right ? early 2000s? So it might be that election which she stood, it wasnt serious anyway kinda a novelty to be honest.
