The one which is high up, under a tall wall made from bricks.
And what was behind the reason for building it. If someone has a pic bring it, its similar to the sadaam hussien one. I think its a trend from socialist/marxist/communist leaders.

When we were leaving somalia the mooryaans were trying to figure out a way to bring it down and sell it. Those people were selling anything that metal in it.

It's called Dhagax Tuur meaning Stone Thrower in somali...Dunno when it was built there but the dude is supposedly throwing rocks at some foreign army, the italians i believe...he is a symbol of freedom..Probably built by the kaafir Siad barre regime...statues are xaraam in Islam..

To see the Dhagax tuur statue check this website:
http://www.mahad.8m.net/photo3.htmlDhagax Tuur (stone thrower) pic is the third picture next to the Baledweyne pic.
Dhagax Tuur statue was a simple of resistance ama Gumaysi diid. It's statue build and dedicated to the SYL group who fought against the colonial powers, to free Somalia. They used their hands, spears, and most importantly rocks while the colonial powers used much more powerfull weapons.
One of the members of the SYL team was Xaawo Taako. U know it's funny how we remember and salut people like Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks and not the people who fought with their hands, spears,and rocks so that we could have freedom. She was killed with a poison arrow before Somalia achieved its independence...may ALLAH (SWT) bless her soul.
A black statue was build and dedicated to her and it was located in Mogadishu. For those of you who haven't seen Xaawo Taako's statue, in the statue, she is holding a sword in one hand, a rock in the other, with a baby tied to her back , and a poison arrow going through her heart.
Dhagax tuur as well as Xaawo Taako, Ahmed Gurey, Cabdulle Xassan, etc. are very important to our Somali history...marka let us not forget our national heroes because they were the ones who fought for our beautiful country. (or ONCE USE TO BE BEAUTIFUL

)
Viva SYL...May ALLAH bless their soul! Aaaamin!

I hope it's destroyd. Maybe it's part of Somali history but religion is more important than that, and statues like this are 100% HARAM in Islam, no doubt about that. Sayyidiina Muhammad SCWS said: do not leave any statue without destroying it or any raised grave withour levelling it

Dhagaxtur is supposedly a Hawiye/Abgaal statue, dedicated to those perished in the resistence of the Italian Colony.
When the Sayyid statue was erected with all his glory, horse, sword, turban and the whole nine yards, the Abgaal were jealous about it and claimed bias against their semi-naked statue and said.
"Ar daarod xaa ku dhagar eh, koodana dhar eey u galsheen kaynana dharraan eey dhigeen"
