Why did Shakira sing at the world cup 2010 in Africa?

Until this day, I don't understand why they gave it to her. She can't barely sing and dance. Why didn't they give it to Beyonce? She is black, vocal powerhouse and she can dance. And she has african roots. Why didn't they choose her? Why?

Look at this performance( it has an african theme to it)and you will see what I am talking about:

Shakira could never top that.

Robotic: stop making everything about race. Last time I checked Knaan was headlining the world cup. Shakira made a song for the world and she was invited to sing.

I am a Beyoncé fan but I never heard or seen beyonce writing songs about Africa or even touring Africa for that matter. She even admitted she wished to be latina. :MJ:
