HAG was formed in the summer of 1985 on the campus of Gaheyr by a Cadre of Hawiye students fed up with Marxist Jeberti rule. Over the years, the HAG membership grew and was noticed by the Diaspora USC leadership who wooed them by adopting HAGs radical agenda. The elders saw a powerful base of young men who were determined to foist Paxa Hawiye but felt it was necessary to purge the Hawiye leadership who fails the HAG since 1960.
