Such events are normally for the privileged and for diaspora to feel like they are civilizing the natives.

There was a party the other day in Hargeisa for qurbajoog (as if being a refugee is something to celebrate) meanwhile at the same time there were demonstrations in the city about the water shortage.BaastoUnit wrote:Such events are normally for the privileged and for diaspora to feel like they are civilizing the natives.
Dadkani waa imtixaan.

Wixii wanaagsan waa layska daydaa. Events ka noocan oo kale way ka qabsoomaan magaalooyinka caalamka intooda kobcinta aqoonta u heelan. Hargeisa iyo Mogadishu midkoodna libraries waaweyn malaha markaa Naadiyada iyo bandhigyada akhrisku waa goobo alternative ah oo ay bahda qoraaga Somaliyed isugu iman karaan. Dhamaan waxa Magaalooyinka Somaliland ka jira Readers clubs. hadii magaalooyinka kale ee Somaliduna naadiyi noocaasa laga wada hirgeliyo waxa fidiya cilmiga waxaana kobcaya jeebka qalinlayda Somalida. in buugaan burco ku dhexqoro Hargeisa aanu dhaafin waxa iiga fiican in geeska afrika oo dhan lagu bandhigo meel walba si aan u kasbado akhristayaal faro badan. Hargeisa book fair inkastoo uu yahay kan bariga africa u weyn hadana bulshadu ma wada iman karto oo qaarbaan dhaqaaluhuba u saamixin inay tagaan.

I am not sure if this is correct but apparently there were over 4000 qurbojoog folks who have been invited to these parties and were each required to buy a ticket for $20 , so you do the math and it only costed 100k or less to host these gatherings.LiquidHYDROGEN wrote:There was a party the other day in Hargeisa for qurbajoog (as if being a refugee is something to celebrate) meanwhile at the same time there were demonstrations in the city about the water shortage.BaastoUnit wrote:Such events are normally for the privileged and for diaspora to feel like they are civilizing the natives.

Anyway as for the OP, Mahoka bro, there absolutely nothing wrong with another city copying or following the footsteps of Hargeisa. In fact it should be seen as an honour that Hargeisa is the trail blazer for such events and that more cities should follow suit. As you know literacy in among Somalis is quite low so any Somali who is able to have access to books and reading materials is always a good thing.
This is a gain not a loss.

Come on sxb it's not like HRG was the originator of book fairs, and even if it was.Whats wrong with another city doing likewise.

Your presidential house is named after hargeisa
Your festivals are copied
Forever living in hargeisa's shadow. But that is not a surprise tho, hargeisa is the home of the somali race

I don't understand all the hype behind book fairs. What does it contribute to the society ? Nothing really.

Villa Somalia is my presidential house, Villa hargeysa is build in 2014 and named after a little town, its parliamentarians chill house, just like the Villa baydhaba was named after a town.mahoka wrote:What little townlibaaxyare wrote:First of all international book fair is an international event so its not your invention, and its not yours.mahoka wrote:as usual hargeisa does something and that turns out to be very successful and mogadishu copies it , but why are they doing it 2 weeks after hargeisa bookfair, why not choose a different month.

the fact is the other way round you copied everything, including the litte things like the the road slow down bumps outside Villa Somalia, but you didn't stop there by building a shitty one but you even used and nick named the same name xiyaal xamar nick named back in the days aka " askariga Jiifa " . small town copying an ancient city is not something new. you live in fantasy but sooner or later you will come to the realitymahoka wrote:The police was the of Somaliland, the police logo is that of Somaliland before 1960.
