I just want to like or recommend comments - for example when someone makes a statement and you agree with it wholeheartedly without needing to add anything and you want them to acknowledge that it has been read and appreciated by someone.
Why is this place so behind?

Yahoo! has similar thing. You can like or dislike comments, and if a comment gets more than 10 dislikes, its Hidden.

The owner of this site is too cheap to do something like that. I wonder what he does with his Google Ad revenue he gets from all these people visiting.

Exactly.
Many forums have it. The owner seems greedy- lazy - how much would it cost? I don't think it's a lot to ask.
