First of all Mogadishu is only 1K km away from Djibouti, not 2.

Secondly, geography and cultural affinity is not the same thing. Yemenis are culturally closer to Syrians who are 2500 km away than to Djiboutians on the other side of the pond.

I don't see Yemenis as very different from Bantus in Somalia, with the exception of skin tone and hairiness, since neither are indigenous to the Horn of Africa and are normally short and stocky in frame. The major difference between the two is the circumstances under which they came. One group has greater access to capital, advocates and a homeland that they have direct ties to, while the other group are descendants of prisoners of war/indentured workers.
